Robb is a former Terre Hautean, son of the late David Robb, who was president of District 11, United Mine Workers of America, at the time of his death. The district leader said the union represnts 15,000 American Can workers in 13 states seeking a general wage increase, a more liberal health and welfare plan, a pension program and uniform expiration dates for contracts at all the plants. Robb said he understood E. T. Klassen, director of labor relations for the company, would head the negotiation committee for management.

The plants are located in New York, Maryland, Oregon. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, Georgia, Texas, California, Missouri, Utah and Indiana. The sessions in Terre Haute will be the first joint national meeting of American Can Company officials and representatives of the union. Part of the general nation-wide bargaining of the union, the negotiations are confined to a fabricating part of the steel industry. They are not involved in the issues before the presidential fact-finding board recently named to consider the dispute between the union and steel producers.

Terre Haute unions will be rep- resented on the negotiating committee by William T. Norman. 1941 Helen avenue, president of Local 3374. There are approximately 200 members of the union employed at the local American Can Company plant. Other members of the negotiating committee, Robb announced, will be Joseph de Luca, Brooklyn, N.
