Mr. Editor: taw in your paper a few days ago a notice of a lively fox chase near this place, and judging that the public may think that we have a great many foxes in this section, I want to say that notwithstanding the repeated hunts lately, there are not a few foxes still lurking around, which are somewhat similar in their tactics and actions, but are not such good runners, although they run well for a short time; yet the fact of their only one-half as many feet their ability to compete with the fourlegged animals is greatly lessened, and therefore they have to use their deceptive powers in another direction. Not wishing to be too hard on these foxes, I will tell you something of a very pleasant given at the residence of Mr. Wm. L.

Watts, Friday evening. There had been quite a large number of invitations sent out so that a large gathering of the young folks were on hand and winning ways were not found wauling, nor were the foxes very distant. The four services held at 11, 8.80, 6.45, and 7.80 respectively, were attended by crowds. The congregation at night was beyond the capacity of the church, and many tvere turned away. During the day there were 27 seekers forwurd at the altar, 28 of whom professed to lie comforted, 24 persons were received into the church on probation.

There will be services each night duriug the week at 7.80 Bible Presentation. Misses Anna Feldmeyer and Mollie Pindell were presented yesterday afternoon with handsome "edition of the Oxford Bible, by the members of the First M. E. Tongers have been able to get to and from the bars in the past week with comparatively ease. Amateur Affair. The amateur theatricals at the Naval Academy, of which a full program was published in Capital, came off very successfully on Saturday night. The stage arrangement was very altrac rive, the costuming handsome, the acting very good. Especially worthy of mention are: who as sumed a strong character which her dramatic talent was admirably adapted; Miss Sampson, daughter of the Superintendent Sampson, assumed the role mt with grace and elegance; Mrs.

Bartlett was a charming Ophelia, and Miss Harrington was good as Lady Macbeth. Mr. Lloyd, as Othello, was very good and received numerous The gymnasium was well filled with spectators, most of whom were in full diess. Bursting of the Water Malu. The large water main near the reservoir, which supplies the city with water, bufsted on Friday, and flooded the entire place for considerable distance around. Notice was given to consumers late on Saturday evening to supply themselves with water enough to last for twenty-four hours as the break required the shutting off of all the water until the damage coukl be repaired. Mr. John Johnson plumber of this city, was given the job, and he proceeded to the break with a force of workmen about 8 on Saturday night, aud in leas tlmu five hours after he had got to work, he had the damage repaired.

About eight feet of new pipe was put in place of the old that had bursted. The break is supposed to have been caused from a flaw in the pipe and the great pressure of water on the plaee, together with the frost in the ground. Every available empty in the house was filled with water, and provision made foff a long siege, but before the household had an occasion to use it, the water was running as before. It is said to have been one of the most expeditious jobs ever done for the company. No Application for the Free Delivery.

Frederick is the first city so far in Maryland to make application for the free delivery, under the recent Act of Congress giving letter carriers to cities having over 10,000 inhabitants and whose income exceeds Annapolis has made no application for the benefit of the law yet, which we suppose will be done as soon as our new postmaster is commissioned and is inducted into office. All that is necessary is fora little action and we will get it. Let some of our public-spirited citizens who have plenty of spare time, start a paper for signatures. Annapolis is entitled, under the law, to these letter carriers, and we might as well get the bene-, gt of it as for the money to lay idle locked up in the Treasury vaults. Let; some poor, worthy citizen have the benefit of it; as it will be spent ia some other way.

Awarded the Contract. Messrs. Wm. TV. Shipley and B.

C. Sunderland, presidents of the Anne Arundel and How ard boards of County -Commissioners, awarded on Saturday the con tract for building a new iron bridge over Deep Run, between Howard and Aune Arundel counties to the King Iron Bridge Company, of Cleveland, Ohio, for $1,145. The bridge will be in two spans, 50 feet each, and will be built cn abutments cf solid masonry. The specifications were at first made out for a wooden structure, hut the commissioners of both counties deemed it wiser to have the bridge constructed of iron, although the cost of the latter will be somewhat greater. He Must be Commander Plowman, of the oyster navy, says he has investigated the report made by Sheriff Bellman that some seventy vessels were engaged in violating the oyster law off Point last Sunday, and has come to the conclusion that the sheriff must be mistaken as to the locality.

Commander Plowman says the police schooner Folly was stationed at the poiut designated all day Bunday and the steamer McLane a portion of the day, and he is satisfied no depredations whatever occurred on the oyster bars in that locality on the day named. The reduction of internal revenue and the taking off of revenue stamps from Proprietary Mediciues, no doubt has largely benefited the consumers, as well as relieving the burden of home factures. Especially is this the case with Green's August Flower and Boeehee'j German Syrup, as the reduction of thirtj-six cents per dozen, has been added to increase the size of the bottles containing these remedies, thereby giving one-fifth more medicine in the cent size. The August Flower for Dyspepsia and Laver Complaint, and the German Syrup for Cough and Lung troubles, have perhaps, the largest any medicines in the World.

The advantage of increased size of the bottles will be greatly appreciated bv the sick and afflicted, in every town and village in civilized cohntries. Sample bottle for 10 cents remain the same Ize. Great Malaria and Fever and Ague Remedy. Reliable, safe and efficient. Price 50 cen per bottle.
