Gable, city of employment agencies, was yesterday dismissed from the municipal service by Director E. G. Lang. Mr. Gable had the option of but took a dismissal instead fc.nd appealed to the civil service commission for a hearing.

Foilowdnir the removal of the employment agencies' Inspector there were reports that there would he a "shakeup" in the public safety department. Mayor Guthrie denied the report. According to Mayor Guthrie a man recently complained that his son had been fooled by an employment agent; Mr. Gable was called in by Director Lang, to be made acquainted with the case, and remarked that he had. received other complaints and had recovered the fee from the offending emploj-ment agency and returned it to the complaining patron, and that he could get back money in this particular case.

"Mr. Gable was not there to be a collecting agent." said the mayor. "While It is proper to recover money wrongfully collected by an employment agent, the careut that got the money improperly ought to forfeit his license. The agent wrho cheats one man will cheat others. If the efforts of the city cease at securing the return of.

the fee to patrons of the agent who complain, it leaves the non-complaining ones without redress and the agent tree to continue ma methods, director Lang took this view. Mr. Gable and I had a talk the other day. He asked me if I sustained the position Di-ictor Lang: took in the matter and I said I did and Mr. Gable would be permitted to resign.

He told me he did not feel like resigning, and I said that he would be dismissed and he could appeal to the civil service commission.
