muscle that controls chewing to an area under her left cheekbone won't ever be perfect I know But getting said Mrs McVicker 34 who underwent a 42 hour operation eb 10 as a followup to surgery last August have to practice You have to get the strength back into muscles that you used in 72 years like lifting weights to build the muscles back up a little out of she added in a recent interview The left side of Mrs McVicker's face drooped uncontrollably after her facial nerve was severed during the removal of the tumor But with the muscle graft she can simulate a smile by clenching her teeth She strengthens the muscle by chewing on a cork and practicing in front of a mirror "Not everyone gets an opportunity to recreate a face" said Mrs McVicker a former bank clerk with five children almost like a sculptor taking clay and making a whole new face recreating an image like a totally different Her husband William said the trans formation has been more than physi cal a miracle what the doctor has done You can see the difference going to help her go out and be with McVicker said The two operations were performed by Dr Mark May an ear nose and throat specialist at Eye and Ear Hospital who Lebanese Parliament unanimously en dorsed the US mediated troop withdrawal agreement with Israel today despite Syrian objections that will delay its implementation The Israeli Knesset convened in Jerusalem to consider formal approval of the accord state radio said all 80 members present out of the 91 members of Parliament voted in favor of the Lebanese government signing the agreement Authorities had ordered extra security for the session and police sealed off approaches to the mid city Parliament build ing Lebanese President Amin Gemayel did not' need the approval to sign the pact because of special powers the body granted him last year and renewed last week But he wanted the vote as a sign of broad support for the agreement for which Gemayel is trying to rally Arab backing Parliament conducted what was ex pected to be a long debate in Jerusalem in preparation for a vote to approve a signing which could take place Tuesday Criticism of the agreement cut across party lines but Prime Minister Menachem government was expected to win approval for the accord "It is not absolutely good but it can always be said that an agreement could be better" legisla tor Michael Kleiner of dominant Likud Party said defending the pact Opposition Labor lawmaker Victor Shemtov criticized the agreement saying the clause formally ending the state of war between Israel and Lebanon not
