Sheaffer R. R. 2, Box 129 Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 (Opinions this coiiimn do not necessarily represenf policies of this newspaper. No letter to tbo editor win be published permission IE granted to use me name.) TO THE EDITOR: off, the Senator, Birch Bayh passed by Friday morning January 18 and I considered it a privilege to attend the breakfast so capably prepared and served at the friendly Durbin Hotel. Irregardless of politics, and we are w'ell aware of the policies upon which the Rushville Newspapers were founded, Senator Bayh, in my opinion displayed more humanness, charisma if you please, courtesy and down-to-earth relativeness to his audience than any public figure I have seen or heard since Robert Kennedy.

Usually I have written regardin.g our schools, sports and other community projects and evaded the political huUaboo. However, as a liberal minded citizen (politically speaking) and also grateful for of the I want to express my appreciation for the support offered the Senator by approximately sixty-five early rising, public spirited Rush County folk there were young children, teen-agers, young adults, professional and just plain there all of whom gave the Senator a very warm welcome. He represents eaoh of us and is human, therefore makes errors but Stand Up American and Support Something or there will be notbing to support one of these days. I missed seeing the local newspaper present with a staff member or photographer and to date (Tues. Jan 22) have seen no coverage news wise in the Republican.
