Warhawks Tip Waterford Tie for Conference Lead ORDINANCE IIARTLAND Hartland Arrowhead yesterday spoiled any hopes Waterford may have had of going undefeated, and in the process tied the Wolverines for the Southeastern Badger conference lead. Arrowhead won, 266, to give each team a 3-1 conference record. Steve passing was the key to the win, as he completed 10 of 14 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Without its passing attack, Arrowhead would have been in trouble, as net rushing yardage for the Warhawks stood at minus 14. Dibb chief target was Duane Jones, 6 foot 2 inch end, who caught six passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

One of those touchdowns was 83 yards and the other was 46 yards. Jones also had a 53 yard reception other two Arrowhead touchdowns on short runs. Arrowhead clearly dominated this battle of first and second place teams, as its defense allowed only 66 total yards. Waterford fared no better in the running department than Arrowhead, as the Wolverines lost 12 yards rushing. The Warhawks scored early, apparently lost momentum, then regained it to score two last quarter touchdowns.

The psychological boost to set up the second Arrowhead score. Dick Robertson scored the came on 83 yard run with pass. The down came just three plays after Waterford had scored, cutting the Arrowhead lead to six points, 12-6. Waterford might not have scored at all, but for a roughing the kicker penalty against Arrowhead. The penalty made it fourth and two, instead of fourth and 17.

On the fourth down play, the Wolverines completed a pass out of punt formation for a first down at the Arrowhead 47. A 26 yard pass to Dick Meier gave Waterford a first down at the nine. On third down, Tom Irwin bucked across from the one. After that came long score, then late in the final quarter Arrowhead scored after a 23 yard drive that actually covered 41 yards.
