They do Viewers know we broke it first only those in our business know Elliott and Jodi Kennedy also 23 often feel like excess baggage while on assignment are always coming up to me and asking if (WRBL reporter) Sam said El liot used to confuse (for mer Channel 38 reporter) Denise Moore for Janice Wages Of course that bothers lot of people still rec ognize said Ms Kennedy a native of Connecticut who joined the staff last summer em barrassing to show up at a story and have people talk directly to Sam Hall (WTVM reporter) and ignore me Photographer Kevin McLen See WLTZ Page 9 Hardaway Student to Perform at Recital Hardaway High School fresh man Dana Shehane was selected by state audition to play in the All State Piano Recital at the Georgia Music Asso ciation convention in Columbus Hardaway student Ruth Berger won a junior varsity speaker award at the West Georgia Col lege Debate Tournament Jan 10 A group of 24 students from Humanities classes spent Saturday Jan 17 ex periencing the arts in Atlanta The first stop was the High Museum where a special exhibi tion of paintings by contempo rary American artist Jacob Lawrence was featured along with the permanent collection A guided tour of St Cathedral gave the stu dents a first hand look at Gothic and Neo gothic art and architec ture After dinner the students and their chaperones attended a performance by the Atlanta Sym phony Orchesta The symphony orches tra will perform at the Georgia Music Association In set vice convention Under the direction of Dr John Dudd the orchestra was se lected from competition and is the only symphonic orchestra composed of winds strings and percussion from a single high school A special concert was given for parents faculty students and friends Tuesday in the school auditorium since the perform ance is open only to organization members William Pharris and Patricio Cobos of Columbus Col lege were guest conductors Pacelli High The Pacelli High VIP Club sponsored a Tourna Sixteen students wrestled TEEN TEMPO in 100 gallons of orange jello Jerry Oates and Steve Ivey from Oates Gym were the referees and Mark Northcutt was the an nouncer The theme for No vemberDecember was "Getting Along with Your Glenn Davis first baseman for the Houston Astros talked to Pacelli students about his life Sophomore Jenny Taylor was selected to represent Pacelli at the Hugh State Leader ship Seminar this spring She is president of the sophomore class a member of the Student Council and Key Club and has been a cheerleader for two years She spends part of her summers doing volunteer work in a nursing home Other finalists were Tannis Wipler and Jeff Blaney Representatives attending the state seminar have the opportu nity to be selected for the na tional convention in Denver this summer Brookstone School Pam Coffield chairman of the mathematics department and upper school teacher presented a segment of in the Schools: A Key to Revitalized 12 Mathematics at the American Statistical Associa Winter Conference in Or lando la in January Projects were conducted by Sally Cullen a senior Mark Lawrence a jun ior and Daniel Peiken a senior under the supervision of Helen Purks Norman McDonald and Klaus Baer swam in the Woodie Malone Invitational Meet in At lanta The Drama Department parti cipated in the state one act play competition at Georgia South western College (Americus) in January The play entitled "I Never Saw Another placed second in the competition after winning regional competi tion reshman Jenni Jordan was awarded the best actress for the state for her outstanding per formance The academic bowl team went to Taylor County High School in January for competition The two teams were led by Ben Lewis and Jim Lamb team de feated Taylor team The wrestling team placed second in the Pacelli Invitational Tournament Individual winners were Bill Adams Joe Binns Dean Dummitt Reggie Harris first place Trip Meine Allen Helms second place Pip Span dorfer Adam Webb fourth place Spencer High The Greenwaves basket ball team won the Shaw Christmas Tournament Players named to the all city team were David Harrison Darryl Ransom 1 Wanda Jackson and Rodney Har rell Harrell was also named most valuable player during the tournament Seniors whose stories were published in the Christmas Eve editions of The Columbus Led ger Enquirer included Laura La vigne Monica Mitchell and Anece Baxter The Industrial Arts Club had a Thanksgiving ood Drive col lected over $75 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and col lected food for needy families for Christmas Participants were Randall Asburry Randy McRae David Mathis Mike Easton Rob ert Angel George Sutton and See TEEN Page 9 Use Want Ads 571 8545 DESIGNERSTYLES ur Sale!
