Pennsylvania State defeated Colgate University here today, 17 to 9. This is tha second time that Penn State has been, scored upon this year, and the first touchdown that has been made against State on new Beaver Field. Colgate's Interference was too much for Penn in the first half. In the second half, on a forward pass. Miller to Very, State scored its first touchdown.

King, on a line plunge of 12 yards, scored the second, and on a second forward pass. Miller to Very, tha third. Very seemed to be the only one that could break Colgate's interference. He desperately broke up everything that came his way. Mauthe and King made, splendid line plunges.

but yesterday Tech sliphtly outplayed the up-state team. It showed the best football of the year. After four minates of play Ashton, the fullback, took a forward pass from Ileach and carried It to the two-yard line. On the next play Westminster took the ball over. Score, 6 to 0.

Ashton kicked goal. A few minutes later Clair blocked a kick on Westminster's 35-yard line, and 'Ting to run with the ball, fell on the 3o-yard line. Halsinger made 10 yards through line, but was stopped on the next try. Westminster was twice penalized and the ball was on the three-yard line. Ache then went over for a touchdown and Pchmucker kicked goal from the line, a beautiful kick.

In the second quarter Ashton kicked from the five-yard line to Westminster's 45-yard line. Balsinter caucht the ball and with perfect interference furnished bv Schmueker. waded his way through the field for another touchdown. Schmueker fails at goal. Score.

11 to 6. From this time on booting characterized tl.e game until the middle of the third o'tarter, when Tech got a safetv. A Westminster man recovered the ball just as it went over the line, but he was thrown back his own line. This ended the scoring. On a field knee deep In mud and while rain fell, the Carneirlo Tech football team defeated the Westminster team by the score of 13 to 8. More than 1.00Q watched the players Rive an Imitation of ducks and turtles. So bad were the grounds that after the first few scrimmages the players could not be distinguished. It was with difficulty that the two teams could be told apart. While the Plaid players were giving an exhibition in aquatics, about 200 girls from the Margaret Morrison Carnegie School for Girls sans sons composed especially for the occasion.

The smcing was led by Miss Elizabeth Stoner, who also wrote the lyrics. One feature of the pame stands out predominately. More fumbles were made in tne game than any ever seen in Pittsburgh. While a number of officers and midshipmen from the German cadet ship Hansa. who were visitors to lh naval academy today, looked on and to all appearances thoroughly enjoyed the game. Navy's eleven this afternoon defeated University of "West Virginia by a score of 32 to 0. The German visitors occupied seats in- the academy stands. The West Virginians were completely outclassed, making but two first dow-ns during the game.

Navy's line was never in danger. Twenty points were tallied by the sailors in the first two periods and th remaining 12 points in the latter part of the contest were made on two long runs for touchdowns and the resulting goals.
