IOWA UVIM SC OPEN DAILY 1040 SUNDAY 11-6 student orientation Him Ml^lM AMES, IA. - A two-day orientation program for minority students will be held at Iowa State University, Sept. 2-3, sponsored by the minority student program of- lege. The program is designed to five both undergraduate and graduate minority students information concerning campus and community organizations and services, assist them in becoming acquainted with the university and community and in enrolling at Iowa State. About 300 minority students •re expected on the campus this fall, including SO new students. The program will open with registration Sept. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon in Beardshear Hall, Bus tours will be held in the afternoon, followed by a barbecue 5-6:30 p.m. at the Black Cultural Center, 517 Welch Ave. President W. Robert Parks will welcome the students at a 9 a.m. convocation Sept. 2 in Room 101, Carver Hall. Other speakers will follow. The late morning and afternoon schedule will include discussions and grievances, student services, financial aid, housing, and other topics. All performances, including va children's play, will be given in Fisher Theater in the Iowa State Center. All plays are scheduled for 8 p.m. except for special mat* inees and early performances for the children's theater. / Season and single tickets are available in advance at the C.Y. Stephens and Hub ticket offices, and at the door of Fisher Theater each evening of a performance. The plays and dates are: Sept. 10-13 - "Our Town"; Oct. 6-11 — "That Championship Season"; Oct. 30-Nov. 1, Nov. 6-8 - "Twelfth Night: Or, What You Will"; Jan. 1924 - "The Brothers Men- aechmus"; Feb. 12-15, Feb. 19-21 -"The Wizard of Oz;" Apr. 5-10 — "Habeas Corpus"; and May 6-8, May 13-15 -"A Flea in Her Ear." A new director, Patrick D. Gouran, will be in charge of ISU theater productions for a three-year period. A member of the Iowa State speech faculty since 1971, Gouran has directed several past plays. Gifts by Ottumwa firms Ike RNteMfi towe NI«I Swvk* OTTUMWA, IA. - Thirty•even Ottumwa area firms helped in reaching a total of 1602,739 that was contributed to the Iowa College Foundation (ICF) in support of the 25 private colleges in Iowa during the year ending July 1. The campaign established a new record of corporate gifts both from Iowa firms >and out-of-state contributors, according to a report released by Ottumwa Heights College, an ICF member. Ottumwa Heights College received a total of $11,051 from the ICF fund campaign for the 1974-75 academic year. The funds art distributed to member colleges on the basis of enrollment in each school. Gregory Einck, pastor of St. Columbkille's parish, and attorney Leo McCarthy will aerve a* general co-chairmen of the Dubuque appeal to Loras College alumni scheduled for Sept 21. The goal of the Dubuque campaign is $30,000 toward an over-all alumni goal of $100,000, excluding the gifts of faculty and Regent alumni. The teams who will make personal calls will attend the 10 a.m. mass in the Chapel of Christ the King Sept. 21, with a kick-off breakfast to follow in the College Center. Workers will begin making calls following the breakfast.
