Natchitoches Inc ANWPHN Plans Open House 16th Invitations have been issued to city officials to members of the Board of Directors of the Parish Chamber of Commerce and to the presidents of city civic clubs to attend an informal open house Thursday June 18 from 7 to 9 pm when the Association of Natchitoches Women for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches will entertain at the Lemee House Husbands and wives of the honored guests are also being invited to attend Since the husbands of ANWPHN members are also to be included some 4-500 guests are expected to attend according to Mrs John Kyser president of the Association Recent improvements at the Lemee House include an antique French chandelier which the Association purchased and which was put up in the reception room last week by city electricians The chandelier formerly used in the reception room has been placed in the dining room to replace the broken fixture there A French rococo sconce has been placed over -the piano to give more adequate light for musical performers Mrs Kyser says State Chamber Subject At Kiwanis Club Meeting At the Kiwanis Club meeting on Thursday Norm Fletcher spoke on the state association of Chambers of Commerce giving the various projects and aims set forth at a recent state meeting Plans for the opening of the Kiwanis Fun-dland were discussed Jerry Waters formerly of Center Tex and now new manager of Hawkeye Lodge was a guest at the meeting Sgt Dwight St Andre of Fort Worth was the guest of Sid Bright jr CDA Installation Held Tuesday 24th Mrs Lode Couvillion of Alexandria District Deputy installed the newly elected officers of Court Regina Fads No 1372 of the Catholic Daughters of America at the meeting held last Tuesday at 7r30 pm at St High School Auditorium A gift' was presented by the court to Mrs Couvillion who is retiring after four years as District Depuy Mrs Louanna Abey-ta of Court Bishop Desmonds -accompanied Mrs Couvillion and was a guest at the meeting An all white arrangement of flowers was placed on the Grand table Cokes pickles sandwiches and potato chips were served Mrs Perry Webb jr installing officer made flowers the central theme when new officers of the Natchitoches Garden Club were installed at the last meeting of the year held Friday May 20 at the Leme6 House' Corsages each made of different flowers were pinned on the new officers being carried out by the Natchitoches Kiwanis Club Parents with children will have a night tonight being admitted free to the movie All rides will be free to the children from 5:30 to pm at which time the movie will begin and the rides closed-down for the evening A train a ferns wheel and Flying Horses all operated in professional carnival style by members of the Kiwanis club are the features of the playland The club membership 100 per cent strong will take their turn on various nights to serve as ticket-sellers ride-operators and caretakers The Thursday movie will carry out the theme Feature will be Courage of Black Beauty" and a special cartoon-show will be the added attraction Following opening night the project will begin its fund-raising activities The dimes to be collected from each Wednesday May 25 at the City Hall with president Dr Eugene Watson presiding Dr Watson announced that a bill has been introduced in the Legislature requesting funds to reconstruct Fort St Jean Baptiste and read a list of the local organizations that have sent resolutions to Baton Rouge requesting support of the Fort He pointed out that the Louisiana Historical Association passed a resolution to that effect at a recent meeting in New Orleans The Natchitoches group voted at the meeting to frame a resolution that the bill be favored and send in to the governor and to the legislature President Watson
