Adjusting the table itself is Mrs. Doris Walden, LPN, while in the background, Mrs. Connie Burcham, a surgical aid, readies equipment, and at right Mrs. Rosemary Arnett, RN, changes a pillow cover. Barely visible at the top of the picture are the recently installed operating room lamps that burn with 9,000 candlepower. FENDING,ANSWERS — Pictured below is one of the hospital's three lab technicians, who assist doctors in analyzing patients' ills, in the modernly- equipped research facility. FOCAL POINT — Above, Mrs. Doris Borella of the hospital staff checks a patient's records in the files that are kept of each person that enters the hospital. Doctors also have facilities in the records room for conferences, as well as a medical library that serves the hospital's 7 resident doctors. THE FACILITY — Below, view of Carlinville Area Hospital which has served the northern half of Macoupin County since 1952 with bed space for 68 and a daily patient load of almost 50. SHINY — Below is Carlinville Hospital's spotless kitchen where Mrs. Marthelia Armour, pores over dietician recipes for the staff and patients.
