At Weftihgton and Norwood Little League, Pony P/ay/ng is The (playing schedule for this season's Little League arid Pony League games was announced th' 3 week by Bob Crawford, president of the Little .League' Baseball Association. Playing will be at both Wellington and Samnorwood, as •both have lighted fields. Pony League as well as Little League .games will be played at Norwood. Each team will play fifteen games and the season this year win not be divided. All games in Wellington are •double headers, with the first beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the .second at 7:30. Only single games will be played at Samnorwood and these will begin at 7:30 p.m. In t;he schedule below, those games played at Samnorwood indicated. Monday, June 1: Twins vs. Cuds; Dodgers vs. Quails. Tuesday, June 2: Braves vs. Eagles; Wellington Pony League vs. Quaif. SALT FORK SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICT NEWS The Great Plains conservation program had its beginning \n Collingsworth county in 1958. Since that time, 194 contracts have been prepared on approximately 125,000 acres'. Farmers and ranchers agree to complete all of the conservation practices needed on their land during a period of from three to ten years. Practices that are cost shared are grass seeding, 80%; windbreak planting, 70%; waterway shaping and establishing grass, 80%; Terracing, 70 %; diversion construction, 70%; erosion control dams, 70%; irrigation pipelines, 50%; land leveling, 50%; livestock waterwells, storage facilities and pipelines. 50%; Farm ponds, 50%; brush control, 50%; and fencing 50%. Of the 194 contracts, written to date, 52 are complete, 9 have been cancelled because of inability to finish tho work, and 133 contract are still active. "This has been a good year," Crawford said. "In the 19G4 fiscal year, 2<i contracts were developed primarily for grass seeding on soil bank land where sorghum almum has died out." Some recent contracts developed are for Marvin Knoll Lewis Green, W. D. Simpson and J. B. Cook. Collingsworth county rank second in the nation in the number of contracts written.
