His seat, a castle in Ballinasloe, County Galway, is evn 3 pelled Castle ffrench Lord ffrench is the 7th Baron and 8th Baronet ffrench "So far as I know," he ex- lained in an interview, "we've always been double-f-small "Others spell it French, but I believe ours is the original way of spelling it " Why is French spelled ffrench' "It's not snobbery," said Lord ffrench "A long time ago two small letters meant one larpe one At least that's the theor/ Anyhow, I'm perfectly satisfied to let it stand double-f-small " Does the spelling ever cause confusion' "All the time," he laughed "But one gets used to it Aft^r all. I've been ffrench for 42 years " He thought for a moment and added- "It was hell, though, when I was a schoolboy. Three recruiters have been hired by the board to canvass the county to furnish complete information on the program. A federal education grant has made it possible to offer courses in elementary reading, writing and mathematics with study material geared to all levels of achievement. Registration will take place at North Carroll, Westminster Senior and South Carroll High ! Schools on September 26 at 7 | p m. (AP) -- Entertainer Eartha Kitt arrived home from her latest singing tour in an ambulance Tuesday. Miss Kitt collapsed last weekend at Silver Spring, Md while performing with a musical, "Peg," before it opens on Broadway. Her plane was met by an ambulance at Los Angeles International Airport.
