Ambassador Salk to wed ex-mate of Picasso delays story of kidnaping RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) West German Ambassador Ehrenfried von Holleben, exhausted by his ordeal, rested yesterday and put off until today a meeting with newsmen to tell them about his five-day detention by political kidnapers. Holleben was given a lift home by a young lawyer who recognized him just before midnight Tuesday after being released by the kidnapers, who forced the government to free 40 political prisoners and fly them to Algeria in exchange for the ambassador's safe return. Dr. Georg Rohrig, West German charge d'affaires;;, said: "We are grateful that these days of great stress are over. Ambassador von Hollegen seems to be the same again. The shock of the kidnaping doesn't appear to have changed him." New York Times Service NEW YORK - Dr. Jonas A. Salk, the physician who developed the vaccine-against polio that bears his name, and Francoise Gillot, the mistress of Pablo Picasso for 11 years and mother of two of his children, plan to be married July 9. The forthcoming marriage was confirmed by Claude Ruiz-Picasso, the 22 - year old son of Miss Gilot and the 88 - year - old painter. The younger Picasso said in a telephone interview that he knew that his mother and Salk, who is 55, planned to marry, but declined to comment, saying, "I hope you can understand if I don't say anything." He did say, however, that, "I think they're going to be very, very happy." The New York City - born physician and his 48 - year - old mother, he said, were very "fit for each other." Picasso said he preferred not to disclose where the wedding would take place. At Dr. Jonas Salk the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego, however, an assistant to Salk said the wedding will be in Paris, and that the couple will divide their time between La Jolla, Calif., where Salk makes his home, and Paris. Paloma Picasso, the second child of Miss Gillot's liaison with Picasso, was reported to be traveling somewhere in France or England and could not be reached. Claude Picasso said that his 20 - year - old sister, who lives with her mother in the Paris suburb of Nenilly, is also aware of their mother's marriage plans. The world - renowned painter, who has a villa at Mougins, north of Nice, on the French Riviera, has long acknowledged the paternity of Claude and Paloma. Claude, in a suit filed in March, asked to be recognized as a legitimate son of the painter, who has two older children, Paulo and Maya. Should Claude be legitimized, under French law he would automatically become an heir of Picasso. Claude Picasso, asked if his father knew of the planned marriage, said: "1 haven't the faintest conception of that," and said he had no idea what his father's reaction would be. Salk, who has been married once before and was divorced in 1966, has three children.
