Lane Sewell-President Mary Lewis-Vocational Adjustment Coordinator Mr. Ed Wachtel, Principal TO THOSE WHO INTEND TO VOTE SATURDAY, MAY 3, 1986 IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY from Glenn Vickery, Baytown Trial Attorney for 20 Years There are three very important contested races that receive little attention. They are the Supreme Court races. Four Judges will be selected to sit on the highest Court in the State. I am asked from time to time who I intend to vote for in these races. I do not profess to have any superior wisdom that makes me more capable of selecting candidates than anyone else, but I believe most people know by having an active trial practice I am exposed more often to those who hold these offices than the average voter, From that vantage point, I support the following: SUPREME COURT, POSITION 1: OSCAR H. MAUZY SUPREME COURT, POSITION 2: JIM BRADY SUPREME COURT, POSITION 3: JIM WALLACE SUPREME COURT, POSITION 4: JAY GIBSON We have had some embarrassing results from some of our recent judicial elections, primarily due to someone with a familiar name being elected for that reason alone and not on qualifications. These men I have chosen to vote for are of high moral character and legal training. OSCAR MAUZY P.. JIM BRADY P... JIM WALLACE p.. . 1: is presently the Dean of the Texas Senate and Chairman of its Jurisprudence Committee. He has been a practicing attorney for 32 years. is presently a Justice of the Third Court of Civil Appeals and has written more than 300 opinions. JAY GIBSON P M . . J is unopposed in the Democratic primary. He has served with distinction on the Supreme Court for several years. Is a former member of the Texas Legislature and was chosen by Texas Monthly Magazine as the outstanding Legislator, He too has had an active trial practice.
