(Sun staff photo by Angle Bracey) Monty Rester math conference speaker Lee College mathematics instructor, Monty Kester, was a featured speaker at the 34th Annual Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching held recently in Austin. Kester's topic was "Graphing Polar Curves — A Breeze." Approximately 2700 educators attended the conference, "Today's Tools for Tomorrow's Problem Solvers,"; held at the Palmer Auditorium and Hyatt Regency Hotel. The conference was sponsored by the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics, the Texas Education Agency, the Mathematics Education Center at the University of Texas at Austin and the UT mathematics department. Lee College to offer tax course Lee College will offer a Federal Income Tax course this fall. The class, BUS 2338.01, is a three-semester hour class covering all the new tax changes and forms for 1987. A required course for those who are interested in the LC accounting technology degree program offered for the first time this fall, the. class is also of interest to individuals who want more knowledge about their own income tax and preparation. The Federal Income Tax class Is scheduled for 6:50 to 9:25 p.m. on Thursdays. In additio'n to BUS 2338.01. two other accounting classes are on the fail schedule BUS 1307. Introduction to Accounting, is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays. 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. BUS iMli. Accounting-First Half, is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 9::»ti on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays; or 8 a.m. to 10:40 a:m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays Greg Ice to teach English classes at Ross 5. Sterling Greg Ice is a new English teacher at Ross S. Sterling High School this year. Ice was born in Lawrence. Kan . and graduated from Lawrence High School. A graduate of St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City. Kan., his major course of study was physical education with a minor in English and psychology. He is certified to teach physical education. English, health, driver's education and psychologyi While in college, he was selected as an All Conference Selection for three years in football and baseball and tri-captain his senior year He is a member of the National Coaches Association in Kansas and Texas Slate High School Association. He also of" Heated college baseball and high school basketball. He previously taught for 11 years throughout the state of Kansas. Ice is married to Susie Ice, a registered nurse. They have three children. His hobbies include participation in city league recreation basketball and softball.
