(AP) The stock market closed med- iately higher Wednesday after racing a zigzag pattern that ent it sharply upward in early rading, then spiraling downward in midsession to the pre- ious day's level. Trading was active. The Dow Jones average of 30 ndustrials closed up 8.65 at 18.39. In the morning it had )een up close to 15 but by early fternoon had lost all but a point of this earlier gain. Margin Cut Prices moved vigorously upward after the opening bell, apparently in response to the Federal Reserve Board's reduc- ion.Tuesday of margin requirements for stock purchases. Turnover the first Hour to- aled 5:18 million shares, the leaviest first hour turnover since Oct. 22,1969. The decline at midsession was attributed by analysts to profit taking and continued pessimism over Cambodian developments and the state of the economy. A rumor on the New York Stock Exchange floor that the ederal Reserve Board will icon cut its discount rate also contributed to the late upswing, analysts said.
