You said in. a recent column that a person who takes children into her home during the day does not need a state license for operating a "day care center" unless it's for nine or more children. I take care of only four children but I was required to get a license. How come? A. You were right to get a license. But it is probably for a" "day care home," not for a "d a y care center." Ordinarily, I' any person who provides day care in her home for a child or children not related to her must obtain one of the following types of licenses: Day care center: Permits operation of a professional type of d a y care facility, such as a nursery school,.for care of nine or more children, Day care home: Permits a person to provide day care in her home for not more than four children (a higher number may be allowed if the children are from the same family.) Group care home: Ali lows a person to provide day care in her home for five to eight cjiild- ren. Ordinarily, the person who qualifies for this .license must have a full-time helper. , A licence may not be required if the child care is being provided under direct supervision of a court, Licenses are issued by the Illinois Department of Children and Family services. There is no charge. —Illinois' State Bar Association. Tires And Wheel?
