'Sfeepy HO//OW' Church Named Historic Shrine NORTH TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (AP)-The old Dutch church in I Sleepy Hollow, of "Headless I Horseman" fame, has been desig- 'naled a national historic site. The 267-year-old native stone church, immortalized in Washington Irving's classic, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," has been a local landmark since Dutch colonial days. In its Sleepy Hollow Cemetery are buried such famous Americans as Irving, steel magnate Andrew Carnegie, labor leader Samuel Gompers and auto manufacturer Walter P. Chrysler. church remains as it was in 1695 except for minor alterations. The old structure has not been used regularly since 1865, when the First Reformed Church was constructed because additional facilities were needed.
