Failure To Register ] IB Violation Of Law BALTIMORE, Nov. 24--Calling attention to the fact that failure to register is a violation of law and makes the delinquent liable to penalty, Colonel Henry C. Stanwood, Maryland State Director of Selective Service, expressed fear that some youths in Maryland were placing themselves in jeopardy either unwittingly or because of an "I-think- 1-can-get-away-with-it" attitude. Colonel Stanwood said that the Local Boards have standing instructions to turn over the names of suspected delinquents under the Selective Service law to Federal authorities for investigation' and prosecution if facts warrant. Although the young man who becomes 18 is required to register at a Local Board office within five days of the date of his eighteenth birthday. Colonel Stanwood explained, if he happens to be away from home he need not return; he may register at the nearest Local Board convenient to him and the record will be sent to the Local Board having jurisdiction, even though it is in another state. After he registers, it is mandatory that a registrant keep his Local Board informed of any change in his address or change in status," the state director pointed out, and this ap- _ plies after he becomes 26 as well as I before. Questioned concerning the man who did not register because he was on active duty in the armed forces, Colonel Stanwood explained that such a man is required to register within 30 days of the time he is separated from the armed forces. Among The Sick Mr. James H. Cramer, Frederick realtor, who has been undergoing observation and treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital, returned to his home at Rose Hill Manor Wednesday and is getting along nicely. ij. Dr. H. T.
