Summerford New Head of Boy Scout Troop 31 Reorganization of Boy Scout Troop 31, sponsored by the American Legion', was completed Thursday night, March 5, and 'application has been made for the charter. •Gerald Summerford is the new Scoutmaster, while Glenn McLain Is assistant Scoutpias- ter and Bill Spillman is the junior assistant. Three patrols were organized. Jerry Wooldridge is leader of the Badiger Patrol; Mike I/ittle is assistant leader; and Kenny Black, Jerry CLewis and Gtenn 'Maddox are members. Eagle Patrol Leader is Teddy McLain, Carlos Hatch is assistant leader, and Ted Bailey, Kirk Edens and Randy Aaron are members. 'Flaming Arrow Patrol Leader is Jimmy McEwen, Danny Gray is assistant and Brad Kopp, Reece Bowen and Jackde Pendleton are members. These boys advanced from Webelos only last -week.; The next meeting will be Friday, March 13 at the American Legion Hall beginning at 7 -p.m. All boys who are interested in becoming Scouts, as well as •(parents, are invited. Two County Men Pledge Fraternities Texas Tech fraternities have .announced the pledging of 248 men for the spring semester among them one from Welling ton and another from Samnor- -\vood. Bobby Sanford, Wellington, has pledged Kappa Alpha, and Neal Lowry of Samnorwood pledged Sigma Chi. State Draft Quota Cut AUSTIN.—The state draft quota for April calls for 449 men, compared to 610 for March, Col. Morris S. Schwartz, state Selective Service director, aid Wednesday. The state fyuota of 449 for April is the Texas share of a national 1 call for 12,000 men, all "or the Army. The state Selective Service director also announced, (pre-in- (tuction /physical and mental examinations for 6,000 men in April. ILocal board quotas for the April call are scheduled to be mailed to the state's 137 local ward's on March 11. The April quota will be filled mostly with men who are vohinteers under 26 years old and non-volunteers ages 19 through 25. Most of them will 36 22 years old. No man whose draft board file reflects that he is maintaining a bona fide family relationship with a wife or a child or children will be selected in response to this call. Three Housing Directors Named* Mayor Hiram Cudd has re- uppointed three directors of he Wellington Housing Auth- >rity for two-year terms:, beginning March 6. They are George Shadid, Dr. . B. Jones and N. M. Higdon. HoW-over directors are Joe ?erry and Buster Hughs. The body will meet this week ;o organize for the coming ear, Higdon said. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson returned Tuesday of last week from Truth or Consequences N. M., where they spent three weeks.
