Still at Work W. D. Aldridge * Aldridge Observes 90th Birthday Feb. 14 W. D. Aldridge, retired farm-1 er and former county tax assessor-collector observed his 90th birthday quietly on Friday, Feb. 14, when five of his children were here to be with him. These were W. K. Aldridge of Santa Fe, N.M.; W. D. Aldridge Jr. of Placerville, Calif.; Jewel Aldridge of Hobbs, N. M.; the Rev. Ray Aldridge of Okema, Okla.; and Mrs. Pete Harris of Dumas. A native of Arkansas, Mr. Aldridge came to Wellington in 1919. .He-farmed for a number of years and was elected tax assessor in 1933. He served until; 1938. He returned to farming after he left public office. But his retirement from this work did not prevent him from using his ability to make things grow, and he cared for the St Joseph's Hospital grounds foi some years. Even last summer he helped friends in:'caring for their yards-, and he says he intends to continue working. Others besides the children who joined) Mr. and Mrs, Aldridge in observing his (birth- day were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Nachlinger and family of Pam, Mr. "and Mrs. Garlan Rog ers of Canadian, Pete Harris o. Dumas, Mrs. Ray Aldridge o: Okema, Mrs. J. B. Morgan o: Dallas', and Miss Aundrea Al dridge of Dallas. Charles Welch, who is teach ing at Richland Hills in For Worth, spent the week end her with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Bemice Welch. 5 Locations North Part of County Staking of five now locations ;parked' oil and gas field drill- ng activities recently, with six ites filed with the Panrvpa of- ice of the Texas Railroad Commission. Katex Oil Co. No. 12 Bell— 330 feet from the south line and 990 feet from the west line of section 16, block 13, located 21 miles north and 7 east of Wellington. Proposed depth 2,300 feet Katex Oil Co. No. 13 Bell— 990 feet from the south line and 330 feet from the west line of section 16, block 13. Proposed depth 2,300 feet. El Dorad'o Oil and Gas No. 2 Laycock—330 feet from the south and 990 feet from the west lines of section 15, block 13, proposed depth 2250. Plugged well: Barker and Montgomery No. 1 C. B. OLu- tes, section 73, 'block 12. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Ammons, former residents who have been living in Amarillo, returned to Wellington last week tf> make their home. Mr. Amrnons is now employed Steve Owens Supply. at Miss Celia Ray Anderson, student in Texas Technological College at Lubbock spent the past week end with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kopp and children.
