There really isn't anything new," admits Iowa potter Hank Goodman. : · Goodman is one of three, artitists exhibiting their work during March at the Beverly Art center, 2153 W., Ulthst. . "In this day and age, you can look back on all the things that have been done and assimilate from other cultures, more or less creating new forms by borrowing from the old," he explained. · As proprietor of Boyer Creek pottery, near Early, la., he finds that funaction- al articles are'.sale de: mands. ; Tea pots, he finds, are going big because of the high price of coffee, and soup tureens sell better in the east where' second generation Europeans serve more soup on their menus. The potter fires his pieces to the same temperature as porcelain, but the difference results in finished color and composition. "It's not earthware flowerpot type pottery; it's very hard," he said. ; Goodman also teaches a classjat the Sioux City Art center, where his work is displayed. ' / He has had one-man -show at Laura Musser Art Gallery and Museum, Musca- tine, la., and his schedule for this year includes exhibits at the Haymarket Art gallery in Lincoln, Nb., and the Muscatine Art center. Goodman has participated in the Oak Park Village Art fair in 1975 and 1976 and in Discovery '76 at the Beverly Art center.
