Circus shows will, be offered at 5 and 7 p.m. at the expansive fairgrounds, an idea! place for circus fun. Any Henior citizens recall a circus in old-time Saxon? Speaking of Saxon... are planned every day throughout June 26-30. Some of the highlights in old Dogwood include: —Friday, June 26: Gurney- Saxon Lions Club fish boil from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring Lake Superior mouth-watering trout. —Saturday, June 27: Volunteer fire department open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with brats, bars and a car wash. —Sunday, June 28: The inaugural Dogwood frve-kilometer run and two-mile walk, beginning at 8 a.m. —Sunday, June 28: Gala parade at 1 p.m., with lineup beginning at noon, Thos? with floats should call Terri at 893-2360 or Jim at 893-2460. There's HOPE Directors of Help Orphaned Pets Everywh e r e in Ironwood said they hftve been offered a matching grant to assist in building a new animal shnlter. The terms of the ^rant are that HOPE will receive $15,000 if it can come UD'With that amount in matching funds. For the Record HOPE... ...officials said specific plans for a new shelter haven't been completed, but it's estimated the cost will range from $30,000 to $45,000, depending on furnishings and state requirements. The amount of volunteer labor will also be a Factor in the cost. Many Gogebic Range residents have already contributed to HOPE'S building fund. Contributions are being sought by. HOPE, 112 S. The black billfold contained about $10 in cash. ACCIDENTS City of Ironwood An Ironwood man was cited for drunk diving following a 9:51 p.m. Wednesday accident at the Hemlock/Norrie intersection. " Larry Nei! Mayer, 59, of 144 E. Coolidge Ave., turned in front of u vehicle driven by Lane Went- lar.d, 19, of Goodman, Wis., and a collision resulted. The 1995 Ford Wentiand was driving was extensively damaged and had to be removed by a wrecker, The Mayer vehicle sustained considerable damage. There were no injuries. Mayer, who registered blood-alcohol breathalyzer readings of .20 and .21, twice the level used to determine intoxication, waa also cited for failure to yield while making a left turn.
