J "America, Freedom and You" youth seminar for high school juniors and seniors will feature Basilla Neilan, a recognized authority on young people and their problems. "Her unique approach to various types of programs, excellent theory, rare skill and enthusiasm was her success in keeping adolescents off the streets of Cambridge and engaged in constructive activities," said Clifford Parker, 10330 S. Seeley ave., seminar chairman, i The Kiwanis Club of Southwest Chicago is sponsoring the youth forum scheduled for March 16 and 17 at St. Xavier's college, 103rd st. and Central Park ave. Miss Neilan directed a camp for children for 19 years, supervising programs not only for the well adjusted child, but serving emotionally disturbed and physically handicapped children as well. ' - She was the first administrator in community action, a section of 'the War on Poverty located in Orange county, N.Y. She is the recipient of the Harry Langton Krough award for humanitarian service. She also received Mademoiselle magazine's award as "Young Woman of the Year." Miss Neilan has testified 'before the U.S. Senate subcommittee on juvenile delinquency, and was also director of "Citizens of To- morrow." She holds a bachelor and a masters degree and was twice a Ella Lyman Cabot Fellow. Miss Neilan frequently acts as consultant to towns, cities, youth agencies and private families in the establishment of programs to assist teenagers over the rough spots to become better citizens and members of their community. She is a board member of several youth-serving agencies, and conducts numerous conferences.
