Recital To Be Given At College Tuesday The duo of Robert Brink, violinist, and Daniel Pinkham, harpsichordist, will present a recital of classical to contemporary music, Tuesday in Brodbeck Hall, Hood College, at 8 p. m. Brink has appeared in many recitals with outstanding success. Olin Downes of the New York Times has praised his pure singing tone, his admirable refinement, taste, and clearness of execution. As a musician of unusual taste end versatility, Pinkham has been praised as a master not only of the the harpsichord, but also of the organ, a conductor, and a composer. Several years ago the two young artists began to do concert work together. They have been heard in national broadcasts over CBS and have made recordings. For those audiences to whom the harpsichord is unknown. Pinkham gives a short lecture on the history and workings of this instrument, which travels along with the two musicians in their station wagon when they go on concert tours. The program will include the Adagio from Sonata in G minor by j. S. Bach; the Sonata in G minor by Henry Purcell and the Concert Number Nine in E major by Francois Couperin for both violin and harpsichord, Mr. Pinkham will play a group of four pieces by Couperin. After the intermission the artists will join in Mr. Pinkham's five movement composition, Serendade f o r V i o l i n a n d Harpsichord, and in "Romanesca Variations by Biagio Marini, and the Sonata No. 12 in D minor by Arcangelo Corelli. W. C. T. U. MEETS The New Market W. C. T. U. met at the home of Mrs. John Kelly on Wednesday afternoon. Christian citizenship and soldiers and sailors departments were in charge of the program, which opened with p song followed by worship, Mrs. '"'irgil Baker; prayer, Mrs. Ian Lawson and a song. Instructions for work among soldiers and sailors was given by Mrs. Harry C. Swomley. A letter on membership from Dr. Sisco, Baltimore, was read by the president, Mrs. Lawson. Five dollars and 103 Sunshine bags were donated for the veterans hospital. The meeting was closed with a song and the Aaronic benediction. The next meeting will be December 12 at the home of Mrs. Horace Thompson, near Hyattstown. PROCESSING COMPLETED FORT MEADE. Nov. 19.--Pvt. Melvin E. Heim. 20. son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heim, of Route 1, Thurmont. has completed processing at the 2053d Reception Center here and is assigned to the 3d Armored Division, Fort Knox, Ky., for Army basic training.
