Children find baby lambs near the barn, stray kittens behind the porch, and puppies on the playground. Somehow, the animals follow them, Newly born animals are especially drawn to young children, They seem to sense that "here is a child , , , someone who is new like I am ... someone who feels the exhilaration of life that I feel. . . and someone who will be kind and loving and sympathetic ,,, who will take me home to a warm bowl of milk ,,," — Renee C.
