f A.H.S. A NEW CLUB HAS been formed by several diet-conscious girls at A.H.S. The Diet Club is formulated by seniors Margo Utt, Ginn Klein, Sandy Harmes, Barb Knudsen, andConnie Darbyshire. The only requirement for membership, as I hear it, is to be a girl and weigh over 100 pounds. They call themselves the Girls from P.I.G. and have elected officers under an actual constitution) - o LAST TUESDAY morning Mr. "Early Bird' Palmer was shocked to see only two students at his 7:30 Econ. class. Where was everyone else? Had the students gone on strike? No...because of the slick roads in the rural sections of our school district there was no school that day. Wonder if there were many victory celebrations on this "day after the bond issue passed." - o WE KNOW ONE guy who need- ed a little time to recover from the "shock' of the bond issue passage. Don't imagine Dave Camp even got out of bed Tuesday morning. That's lifel - o THE CADETTES viewed films of their performance at the pep meeting a while back, and we understand the senior members are working out a new drill for their finale next week. Seniors on the Cadettes are Rosemary Bullock, Connie Darbyshlre, Nancy Elmore, Virginia Klein, Kathy Morz, Connie Schultz, Carol Sloniker, and Brenda •Sjogren. Perhaps . Perhaps the Cadettes will get the call for a performance at "the big barn" later . . . A.H.S. would be well represented then with the basketball team at the state tournament, also. - o - IMPORTANT NOTE TO student council members: You are now meeting on Wednesday, not Tuesday. Also meetings will be held In the high school instead of the Foster Building. - o MISS WISCHOF HAD her F.B.L.A. members at school .several nights last week In final preparations for the Valentine's Dance last Saturday. Understand {attendance could have been better. - o - "WHERE, OH, WHERE, has our Spanish class gone?" shrieked members of Franco's Fools last Thursday. It seems the Junior high was taking basic \ skills tests in the room normally occupied by fifth period Spanish students (and their teacher). After gathering forces at the music room, the dumbfounded troops marched to the Home EC room to set up camp, ah class. But the worst was yet to come. After ten minutes of drilling from commanding officer Franco, the "soldiers' were relaxing among the camouflage of sewing machines when the enemy approached. In a surprising "blitzkrieg" antagonistic Allen (the principal; no offense) soon had the class surrendering only to ask "do you need any pillows?" - o - Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1967 Algona (la.) Upper Des Moine»-7 Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the above fugitive is asked to contact Margo Utt, for this is her long- lost bird. - o - IS IT TRUE? When Mr. Knobloch asked, before the final exam, "are there any questions" didJ.P. Sn— really ask "what's the name of this course?' 1 SIGN OVER ONE of the school's antediluvian drinking fountains: "Old Faceful." - o - A FRIEND OF OURS is a real skindiving nut. He and a friend from Fenton planned to take a little dip Into the unexplored depths of the Whittemore sandpits, last Saturday. Although he probably should have been home studying Spanish, Doug Cook was bound and determined to find some action under the ice. Upon returning from his frigid dive, Doug (a real swinger in his wet suit) commented for A.H.S newsmen, "real cool, real cool". - o FUTURE TEACHERS had their Fun Night In the high school gym last Monday evening. Miss Sorenson Is in charge of the activities of the organization. JUST A NOTE FOR all you school-spirited wrestling fans: Let's be conserving our vocal strength. The Sectionals start at Clarion later this week and we want to assist our state champs right from the start. Lay 'em out Bulldogs! - o GIRLS WITH AN interest in a two year girls' school In Missouri were Invited to attend a Coke Party Tuesday night sponsored by an organization called the PEO from Cotteey College in Nevada, Missouri. The get-together was held at a member's home. HAS ANYBODY besides Bolder and me noticed the "COMPUTER' in third period economics? Welcome to A.H.S. Ron. - o - "I have to do my homework now. I'll call you in five minutes.' Weekend School Guests Mr. and Mrs. M. Joseph Bradley of Algona spent a festive weekend at Duchesne College in Omaha, Feb. 3-5.
