A A JUNE 15, 1968 ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH PAGE Obituaries Christoe and pinger a niece, Pauley, Mra. of Victoria Pasadena. CopFuneral services will be held Harry C. Christoe, 95, 1214 Washington died at 8:50 p.m. Friday at Westwood Convalescent Home, Sioux City, towa.

1 He had been failing health for nine months. Mr. Christoe, a resident of Alton for 76 years, was the oldest living employe of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. At the time of his retirement as assistant personnel manager in August of 1953, he had served at the company for 60 years. In 1952 he was presented a gold knive and watch chain in recognition of his 60 years of service.

He was born July 24, 1874 in Zanesville, son of the late James and Melissa Christoe. He attended Girard public schools and etine to Alton shortly after his graduation. His serv. ice with Owens Illinois began July 1, 1892. In July, 1907, he was married to the former Katherine Roesch, who died in August of 1963.

He was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was active in the men's organization. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Rodger F. Wilhert and Mrs. Harry W. McClintock, both of Sioux City, Iowa; son, Eugene (., of Highland, a sister, Mrs.

E. J. Byron, of Alton; and five grandchildren. Friends may call Monday at Morrow-Quinn Mortuary. Rev.

Henry Moore will be in. charge of funeral services Tuesday at Morrow-Quinn Mortuary, followed by burial in Upper Alton Cemetery. Jouett Marion L. Jouett, 60, 476 Delaney Wood River, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Alton Hospital where he had undergone surgery Wednesday.

Born Aug. 1, 1908 in Greenfield, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Jouett. Moving to Wood River 14.

years ago, been Mr. Jouett had merly employed at Upper Alton Bowling Alley, Wood River Bowl, and recently at Howard Finance Co. July 17, 1929, in Greenfield, he was married to the former Blanche Edwards, who survives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Joe. Friends may call at Marks Mortuary after 2 p.m.

Sunday until time of the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Rev. Orrin M. Anderson, First Baptist Church of Alton, will officiate.

Inetrment will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park. Sparks Mrs. Victoria Coppinger Sparks, of 903 State a member of a well-known Alton family, died at 12:45 a.m. this morning at St. Anthony's Hospital after an illness of several months.

Mrs. Sparks, a daughter of the late John W. Coppinger and Bridget Biggins Coppinger was born in Toronto, Canada, while her father was serving there as American Consul. She attended the Ursuline Convent in Alton and the Mary. ville Convent in St.

Louis. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Isabel Coppinger Geis, of Pasadena, a nephew, John B. Coppinger, of Alton: SmithSynonym for Service at 9 a.m. Tuesday at SS- Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Friends may call at the home till 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Milford Charles M.

Milford, 85, 2825 Sanford, a resident of Alton for 35 years, died at 11:35 p.m.. Friday. He had been in 111 health for seven years and at Villa Terrace Nursing Home for three years. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Bartholomew Milford, he was born Dec. 16, 1882 in Fieldon. While in Fieldon he farmed, later moving to St. Louis, he was a street car conductor. After coming to Alton, Mr.

Mil-9 ford was employed at Shell Oil Co. for years. He was a member of labor local 338. His wife, the former Moss, whom he married March 27, 1909, in St. Louis, preceded him in death in May of The last of 13 children of his family, he is survived by two sons, Chester and Charles, both of Alton; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Rev. Laurence Wagley will preside at services at 2 p.m. Monday at Gent Chapel followed by burial in Valhalla Memorial Park. Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Sunday at Gent Chapel.

Oldham Area relatives have been informed of the death of Rickey Oldham. 14, who was killed in an automobile accident in Wednesday. His survivors are his parents, former Altonians, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Oldham, now of Augusta, two sisters, Mrs.

Sid Porter, Highland Falls, N.Y.; Betsy Ellen, Augusta, a brother, Tommie, Augusta, grandmother, Mrs. Belle Oldham, Alton; an uncle, Russell Oldham, Florissant, Mo. Mrs. Belle Oldham, accompanied by her son, Russell, will go to New York where funeral services will be held Thursday. Cox Funeral The body of George Clinton Cox, 62, Meadowbrook, was removed from Smith Funeral Home, Bethalto, to the Van(Natta Funeral Home, Herrin, where services were held at 1:30 p.m.

Friday. Rev. Russell Dodson and Rev. Roger Tate officiated. Burial was in Herrin City Cemetery.

Tavern Owner Called Before Liquor Board EDWARDSVILLE An area tavern operator here was ordered early this morning to appear before the Madison County Liquor Control Board for allowing minors on the premises. The Madison County sheriff's office said deputies issued a summons to Paul E.

The sheriff's office said an Edwardsville resident complained at 8:35 p.m. Friday that he had just been to the tavern and found his 16-year-old son sitting inside with a bottle of beer. He told the sheriff's office he took his son with him, but refused to give deputies his son's name until he consulted with the state's attorney's office.

Deputies said they checked the tavern at 9:05 p.m., but found no minors there. They reported checking again at 12:08 a.m. Saturday, however, and issued Smith a summons after finding five minors on the premises. Bloodmobile Will Be at A0C Tuesday The Red Cross bloodmobile will be located at American Oil Co. Tuesday from 11 a.m.

to 4 p.m., it was announced today by the Alton- Wood River Chapter of the American Red Cross. Following that, the bloodmobile will visit Shell Oil Co. on June 20 and 27. The first day from noon to 6 p.m., and trom 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bertram, 239 S. 13th Wood River, were burned out of their home and "just. about thing was lost in the house," Mrs.

Charles Baker, a friend, said today. Mrs. Baker is one of the organizers of what she called a "shower. Others active in helping the family. are Mrs.

Norma Snyders and Mrs. Bar. bara Hubbard. The family with four children was on vacation in Indiana when the fire broke out. Arson is suspected and a color TV was apparently stolen no trace of it could be found in the ashes.

Mrs. Baker said the Bertram family is currently living in a rented apartment in Wood River. The family is pretty well fixed for furniture, she said. Small items that don't realize you need until you lose them are needed she said. The shower is open to the public.

Three Thefts Reported To Sheriff EDWARDSVILLE Six tires and wheels, an outboard motor and an automobile battery were reported stolen Friday night and this morning from Godfrey, Cottage Hills and the Great River Road near Alton. The Madison County sheriff's office said the six tires and wheels were stolen from two automobiles parked in the yard of Frank Kalaski, on Road in Godfrey.
