Burl Church Begins Study Of Missions BURT - The first in a series of three church-wide mission studies was held at the Methodist church on Sunday evening. A pot luck supper with members of the Janice Circle was held at 5:30 p.m. The first mission study, conducted by R<»v. Merlin Davies was on "The Church in Canada". The Davies had on display many articles of food and household articles and gifts secured when the family vacationed in Canada and while Rev. and Mrs. Davies attended an international mission school held in Canada the past summer. Rev. Davies showed slides taken in Canada and a film strip on "The Church in Canada" was also shown. The second study of the three mission series will be held at the church 7:15 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 29. The them .'or study will be "Affluence and Poverty — Dilemma for Christians' all church members are invited and urged to attend. Bluebird 4-H Installs, Burt BURT - Members of the Burt Blue Birds 4-H Club met at the home of Margaret Devlne on Saturday afternoon. Officers for the new year were installed. They were: Janet Cherland - president; Coleen Kruse - vice president; Becky Cranston - secretary; Lennice Waltman - treasurer; Marilyn Cherland - historian; Cheryl Kruse reporter, A demonstration on "Grooming a Dresser" was given by Marilyn Tigges. Sharon Tigges demonstrated the "Making of a Portfolio." Talks on "How to look at a Painting" was given by Jean Lynch and on "Picture Study" by Pamela Soderberg . The project of the new club year Is on homo furnishings. Following the business meeting, the girls packed kits for the annual Kossuth County Heart Fund Drive. Leaders of,the Burt Blue Birds are "Mrs. Gerald Soderberg .and Mrs. James Coady. A delicious lunch was served by Margaret and her mother, Mrs. Ray Devine. - o Eugene Steward, Minneapolis WAS an overnight guest Wed. at the parental Walter Steward home. Eugene camn to be with his mothar, who under went major surgery at a Mason City hospital on Wednesday.
