SHOWER HONOREE Mrs. Pat Bunkofske, Mrs. E. J. Evers and Mrs. Larry Evers gave a shower Wednesday for Mrs. Darrell Parcel's Infant daughter, Penny Lynn born recently. Other guests were Mrs. Milton Dettman, Sr., Mrs. Melvin Kern and Linda, Mrs. Melvin Sifert, Mrs. Michael Neuroth, Mrs. Keith Neuroth, Joan Kenne, Vonnie Lauck, Marie Di.e- rs and Chris Evers. Games were played and refreshments served. - o - GUILD MEETING Guild circle of the United Presbyterian Women met Jan. 23 at 7:30 o'clock with Mrs. Esther Barton and Love rn Johnson. Program and devotions were given by Lillie Foth. - o - DAUGHTER IS 11 Liz Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Anderson, celebrated her eleventh birthday Jan. 14. A few classmates and friends were guests at tobogganing and lunch was served. - o - BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. E. B. Carlson was hostess to her bridge club Thursday evening. - o - ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs. Dewey Skilling is entertaining her bridge club Wednesday evening, Jan. 25. - o - CARD HOSTESS Mrs. Fern Foster will be hostess to her card club Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 25. - o - EIGHT SPECKS The Eight Specks card club will meet Wednesday evening, Jan. 25, with Mrs. Esther Helberg. - o- HAVE POTLUCK Members of the Bit and Spur saddle club met Thursday evening at the Izack Walton rooms. A pottuck supper was served. - o- NEWCOMERS MET Newcomers club met Jan. 17 at 7:45 at the Algona Hotel with Diane Westling as hostess. Barb Everst won high bridge and 500 was won by Gerri Hough. Election of officers was held: pres., Diane Westling; v-pres., Nancy Wolfe; Sec., Judy Pearson; treas., Rita Davis and calling chairman, Marcia Simpson. New members are Marge Watson, Edna Danielson, Jenette Buerr and Janice Buhr. Promenaders Square Dance The Algona Promenaders Square Dance Club will have a dance Saturday, Jan. 28. The dmce will begin at 8:30 and will be held at the K. C. hall. Caller will be Dave Lightly of Des Moines. Free lunch will be served. All guests and visitors are welcome. Schultz Winners Winners in the free cash drawing at Schultz Bros, in Algona last Saturday were Jim Voigt and Oliver Bikken, both Algona; Donald Westling, Burt; Ernest Kramer, Irvington; and Silas Banwart, West Bend. Cresco Chums Cresco Chums met at Sue Smiths with Kathy Miller as assistant hostess. Demonstrations were given byMurrianFri- deres and Becky Buscher and talks by Mary Margaret Zaugg and Rhonda Peck. Guests who attended were Mrs. Matt Erdman, Mrs. James Wildin, Mrs. Edmund Frideres, Mrs. Ronald Peck, Mrs. Lawrence Miller, Mrs. C. E. Zaugg, Mrs. Verl Patterson, Mrs. Kenneth Roethler, Debbie Arend and Carmela Peck. Leaders who assisted the meeting were M:rs. Wayne Smith and Mrs. James Besch. 13-County Area Cancer Meeting Here Feb. 3 Representatives from 13 north central Iowa county chapters of the American Cancer Society are expected in Algona, Friday, February 3, for a one-day area crusade planning meeting. Mrs. Theodore Hoover, Jr., Titonka, chairman of the South Kossuth County Chapter, announced that the meeting would start with registration at 9:30 a.m. at Charlie's Supper Club. The purpose of the meeting, is to review plans for an extensive education and fundraising effort in April. Chapters included will be: Calhoun, Dickinson, Emmet, Hancock, Humboldt, North and South Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Webster, Winnebago, Worth, and Wright. Water Course A water safety instructor course, sponsored by the Red Cross, will be offered at South Junior High, Ft. Dodge, beginning Thursday, Jan. 26, 7-10 p.m., and continuing once each week for 10 weeks. Enrollees must be 18 years of age and hold a current Senior Life Savings certificate.
