nursing home He was bom in Olamon a son of William Sibley Page and Annie Harriman Page and attended diesel school in Boston Mr Page worked as a machinist at Lincoln Pulp Pa per for 44 years He had also been a co owner of Lane Supply and Hack ett Machine Shop in Brewer He was a 60 year member and Past Noble Grand of the International Order of Odd ellows and a 55 year mem ber of the Masonic Lodge both in Lincoln Surviving are his wife of Lincoln a son Owen Page of Lincoln two daughters Mrs Allen (Anita) Phillips of almouth and Mrs Walter (Nancy) Laqualia of East Holden two sisters Mary Grindell of Lincoln and Mrs Kenneth (Ella) Cobb of Arizona 11 grandchildren and 10 goofy and shy is a star soccer player who just finished her junior year in high school She had always been responsible about work and never had run away She had left her purse license and uncashed checks at home on the day she disappeared retrospect I guess we wish it was said her father of the runaway theory come back and have her The day before her daughter disappeared CARMICHAEL Calif Stuart Emerson Thoits 87 died July 8 2000 at ountainview Healthcare Center He was bom in Portland Maine a son of Charles Thoits Sr and Ellen Cushman Snow Thoits and attended Portland schools In 1935 he graduated from Bowdoin College He worked at Portland Pipe Line Corp for several years and later worked at the Trans Arabian Pipeline Co in New York City and Beirut Lebanon At the time of his retirement he was assistant comptroller Mr Thoits enjoyed reading and playing bridge and taught bridge classes He was a life master and lifetime member in the American Contract Bridge League Surviving are his wife Lillian of Carmichael one daughter Anne Squires of Newton Mass one brother Robert Albion Thoits of Chapel Hill NC and Raymond Maine and one granddaughter Andrea Squires of Waltham Mass Burial will be private her mother had worried about a man in a white car smoking a cigarette and sitting in the beach parking area for no apparent reason She dropped off her daughter but stayed until the white car left Investigators have now publicized a composite drawing of that heavyset man with a mustache viewing him as one possible suspect They have said they have one or two others but no arrests have been made A group of local people is offering $20000 for information that helps to solve the case Investigators set up a hot line at 800 808 9677 Meanwhile this Roman Catholic family which includes an older brother and sister takes comfort in prayer and the emotional support of friends The father a court probation officer and psychiatric emergency clinician in a local hospital is taking vacation time from work hope to go back with a renewed commit ment perhaps different stronger he said of his work helping troubled people His wife who sits on the Quaboag Regional School Committee is on summer break from an elementary school where she teaches special education She plans to return in the fall amazed at how well doing their courage their said Linda Cunningham a friend who spends time at their home each day their friends we know how we would feel I guess we very sad but wrapped in said Mrs Bish being taken care of but we know about And the tears well up again Each day the newspaper selects one obituary and seeks to leant more about the life of a person who has lived and worked in Maine Rochester Institute of Technology Surviving are a daughter Mrs Ed (BobbD Lipka of Churchville a twin sister Mary Harscher of Ind three brothers Elmer of Pennsylvania and Linwood and Lewel lyn Randall both of Maine and two grandchildren A memorial service will be held at 7 pm Saturday at the Interfaith Chapel at Park Ridge 1155 Long Pond Road and 1999 Along with painting and drawing Mrs Inman enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and when they were young often invited them to have breakfast with her at her Long Island home She was a charter member of the Long Island Histori cal Society a member of a Long Island bridge club a member of an island art group and in 1998 was grand marshal of the Long Island ourth of July parade She was predeceased by a nephew William Barnes Surviving are three nieces Janet Prochazka of San rancisco and Long Island Marilyn Connor of Cape Eliz abeth and Long Island and Ruth Clement of Brunswick and Long Island and two nephews Robert and William Hickok both of Cape Elizabeth and Long Island A memorial service will take place at 11:30 am Satur day in Evergreen Methodist Church Long Island A lun cheon reception will follow at Mrs Long have insisted on two staffers at the town beach Maybe they could have made sure the town was ready to re spond more quickly to an emergency at the beach As it was her daughter was alone around 10 am when she disappeared eight days into her summer job She use the two way radio that day to report any kind of problem Slowed by the suspicion that she had sim ply wandered away maybe with a friend Wight Inman 91 a gentle woman who loved painting and drawings died July 17 2000 at Mercy Hospital She was a resident of Milton Mass and Cape Elizabeth and a lifelong summer resident of Long Island was one of those ladies from the genteel said her niece Ruth Clement who recalled how well her aunt spoke of eveiyone even political parties never (fished one side or the she said Born in Dorchester Mass a daughter of William and Hattie Wight she attend ed local sdiools Her fami ly moved to Milton Mass when she started high school ollowing high school she completed art and business school in Boston In the early 1920s she joined the Junior Wom Club in Milton where she served as president forayear In the 1930s she began a career with the govern ment working for more than 30 years with the ederal Milk Market Ad ministration until her re tirement A compassionate woman she became the primary caregiver for her parents during this time After her parents died she met Ray Inman at her job at the ederal Milk Market Administration The two fell in love and in 1969 with both in their 60s the couple mar ried Together they spent their time at their home in Mil ton Mr camp in Groton Mass and Mrs In home on Long Island Mr and Mrs Inman were married for 11 years She lived in Milton Mass until 1997 when she moved to Cape Elizabeth to be with her sister Evelyn Hickok Mrs Inman spent every summer at her home the Ezekiel Cushing House on Long Island Mrs Inman was an artist who loved working in pastels watercolors oils charcoal and other mediums did almost everything you can think of except said Ruth a cheerleader After high school she worked in the accounting depart ment at Sears in Bangor On June 7 1948 she married Harold Gallant Mrs Gallant moved here in 1959 and was secretary at the irst Parish Congregational Church for many years She also was the bookkeeper at Yarmouth Pharmacy and most recently worked for Heritage Lanterns She was past president of the Jaycee Wives and cur rent member of the Yarmouth Health Council the Order of the Eastern Star and the Congregational Church Mrs interests were reading music knitting sewing animals and traveling Surviving are her husband of Yarmouth three daugh ters Kathleen Norris of Augusta and Laurie Mowatt and Gale Clifford both of Yarmouth and five grandchildren and a great grandson There will be no visitation Private services will bottle two way radio for emergencies and the ache of hermemoiy Investigators scoured the bottom of Comins Pond for her body and checked into whether she had run away But they soon i concluded she had likely been abducted i is evil The only thing I can compare it to is the Nazis who took children from peo Mrs Bish said day gets Still hope abounds A pole out front holds a sign saying: hearts are
