CALS JIM STANTON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Stanton is spending the holidays with his parents. He is a law student at U. of I. Christmas guests at the Stanton home were Mrs. Agnes Brophy & Mrs. Annie Aman, aunts of Mr. Stanton. MRS. MYRA Ostrum had as Christmas guests her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Ostrum, Sherburn, Minn., and her granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Don Baade and family, Titonka. MR. AND MRS. Herb Panco and John Nasby were holiday guests of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Nasby. John lives at Jackson, Minn., and the Pan- cos teach at Tyler, Minn. JUDY BICKERT and her friend, Pat Doyle, came from Minneapolis where they are students at the University and spent the holidays with the Robert Bick- erts. MR. AND MRS. Joel Herbst left Dec. 21 via plane for California where they will visit two weeks with Mrs. Herbst's sister, Mrs. Philomena (Peter) Chubb and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Herbst. Ben is a nephew of Joel. DIANNE Malueg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Malueg, has completed her prescribed course of study and has received her degree from Mankato State Teachers college. MRS. ANDREW Crawford is hospitalized at St. Mary's, Rochester, Minn. MR. AND MRS. August Schmidt, Linda and Lynn and Terry, Steve and Jim Moore, children of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Moore went to Sioux Falls, S.D. last week Sunday to see Mr. Moore who is still hospitalized at Sioux Valley hospital after severe injuries in an auto accident. He has shown some improvement but the paralysis from his hips down remains, though the muscular condition from his hips to his knees has improved. There is a slight possibility he may be brought home soon, depending upon the progress of a kidney condition. Mrs. Moore has remained at Sioux Falls with him. i MR. AND MRS. Dick Crail and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Crail, had Christmas dinner together at the parental home. Christmas evening, the Dick Crails had her parents and brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Simp-on, respectively, Wesley. MR. AND MRS. Matt Platt and Mrs. Anna Hillinga went to Britt to have Christmas dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lassahn. MR.' AND MRS. Arthur Olson were visited a few days last week by the latter's mother, Mrs. Elmer Christian, Emmons, Minn. The Olsons spent Christmas there with her. * MR. AND MRS. A. R. Willrett left Dec. 20 for Phoenix, Ariz., where they will spend the winter with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gross. MR. AND MRS. Everett Anderson had a pre-Christmas dinner last Sunday. Guests were their son Phil and family of Des Moines, their daughter, Marcia, Mrs. Richard Olson, husband and family of Toledo, Ohio, son Tom, who has been attending college at Maryville, Mo., Mrs. Anderson's mother, Mrs. William Becker, Burt, and brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Devlin, Spencer. Mr. Devlin has a degree in photography and he and his wife recently moved from Des Moines to Spencer and have purchased the Medlar studio. MR. AND MES. Scene Is from the new Warner Bros, comedy In Technicolor which opens Saturday at the Algona Theatre. Curtis. Miss List and Scott star in the zany film Norman Panama produced and directed. while Mr. Gust, though retired, had assisted in establishing new business for a firm. Mrs. Gust is the former Abbie Anderson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Anderson. MRS. HENRY Becker is hospitalized at St. Ann, having a series of tests. She has been troubled with arthritis. MRS. ESTHER Barton spent Christmas at Webb with her nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. James Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Cook, Sr., left for Miami, Fla., where they spend each winter. MR. AND MRS. Lloyd Pool came last Sunday to attend .the fortieth wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Tony Sorensen and visit other friends here. Mrs. Esther Barton was their guest at dinner. MRS. ROSE Smith, former Al- gonan, is expected here to visit friends shortly after Christmas. She moved to Paullina, but is spending the winter at Kansas City, Mo., with a granddaughter Mrs. Fred Medley. Mrs. Smith will come here from Des Moines where she was with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Harr for the Christmas holiday. MR. AND MRS. Leo Steven had as Christmas guests their son James and family of Minneapolis • Minn., David of Morningside college, Sioux City, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Booth and famJly. On Honor Roll Francis Lieb, son of Mr and Mrs. Edwin Lieb of Route 2, Algona, has been placed on the Dean's Honor List for the Fall term at Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Lieb is a graduate of Concordia Junior College St. Paul, Minn., and plans to matriculate at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., He is presently enrolled in the pre-theological program. MILESTONE Dr. Harry R. Jenkinson, Iowa City physician, passed his 50th year as a practicing physician there on Dsc. G and was honored at Mercy hospital, where he is a member of the staff, by 300 colleagues, patients and friends at an anniversary party.
