8-Algona (la.) Uppftr D«t Main** Thursday, Dee. 29, 1966 Wesley Library Receives In Materials WESLEY - The Wesley library that started about 16 years ago as a community service by a number of interested citizens of the community, has now become the Wesley Public Library, By meeting certain standards as set up by the state, it has received $500 worth of reference material. Included in the new books are a Webster's New international Dictionary, Rand McNally World Atlas, The Interpreter's Bible as well as many books of science, social studies, literature, paintings and music. The reading and reference books have grown from a few hundred donated at the time the library started to over 3,500 books. Many have been donated through the years, but the library has purchased about two-thirds of the books now on the shelves. This has been possible through many women who have donated time as librarians. Most of the income of the library has gone into books. The library has now joined with the area Extension Library Service and has on hand 700 more books loaned for three months. These books offer fiction and nonfiction for adults, youth and junior readers as well as easy books for the little folks. The library is now open 15 hours a week, with Mrs. Chas. Nygaard, librarian. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3 to 5; Wednesday, also 6 to 9; and Saturday from 9 to 11 and 1 to 5. The shelves are full and offer proof of the need for larger space in order to offer extended service that could be a part of the Wesley Public Library. Pleasant Surprise Mr. and Mrs. Nick Reding were happily surprised Christmas Eve by the arrival of their sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Reding and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Reding, Phoenix, Ariz. Their daughter, Jolene, an American Airlines stewardess, also came from Los Angeles, and another daughter and her husband, Mr, and Mrs. William Rakers, came from Waterloo. It was the first time in ten years the entire family has been together.
