Blooms Mrs. W. D. Hussey of Storm Lake has a very unusual plant called a night blooming sereus that recently produced seven large blossoms. The gorgeous plant blooms only once a year, always at night and for a matter of just a few hours. The blooms open up about 6 p. m. and then begin to dose about midnight. It is the first time the 7-year old plant has had more than three flowers on it. Van Sant, daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Van Sant, Conesville, and Delbert E. Vargason. son of Mrs. Edna Vargason, Maynard, and her late husband, Clint Vargason, were married at the ^Little Brown church near Nashua Saturday, Sept. 1 with the Rev. Glenn Utterbach performing the 9:30 a.m. ceremony. Elaine Van Sant, Davenport, served her sister as maid of honor and Robert Vargason was his brother's best man. A two-tiered wedding cake centered the serving table at the reception which followed at the Vargason home. The couple will make their home at Winfield. The bridegroom, who served four years in the U.S. Navy, has employment near Ainsworth. Henderson library Is well stocked A gift of Andrew Carnegie, the David B. Henderson library was built in memory of an alumnus of Upper Iowa. It is a well equipped working library containing nearly 40.000 volumes. A large number of local, regional and national magazines and newspapers are regularly received and kept on file. Microfilm of some periodicals are also available. A third floor stack area was added to the library recently, thus increasing its' capacity and usefulness. The Class of 1961 left their breakage deposit fees to the University to be used to purchase 22 study carrels for the library. The library, its functions, present capacities, and future needs, was discussed this fall at the two-day faculty workshop. Miss Arthur, a graduate of the West Central Community high school. Maynard, is employed in the Dairy Industry building at Iowa State university, Ames. Her fiance, who was graduated in July from the university, Ames, is assistant manager of Bishop's. P.T.A. reception held MAYNARD—The Parent-Teachers' association sponsored the reception held at the Community hall Tuesday, Sept 4, for members of the West Central Community school faculty and their families.
