IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE WITH LEADER WANT ADS More money offered For individual placings "More money for individual placings" is the major change in tlie Photographic Salon program for the Iowa State fair, J. K. Brown, Oes Moines, a supervisor of exhibits, announced today. Brown said classes have been "streamlined and updated." and conflicting classes dropped, so that winners get more for their talent. Three hundred photographs is about the average entry list. Broun said, with the big majority from the United States. Brown urged more Iowans to enter tin? Iowa life and landscape class, because Iotfff has scenic vistas comparable to the beauties of any other state. However, their numbers seldom equal those of out of state photographers, he said. An individual may enter a total of 12 prints, but not more than four in any one class. The size of acceptable mounted prints ranges from 70 to 320 square inches, with the long dimension not to exceed 20 inches. The $175 in premiums will be divided among six classes: Direct color, portraits of adults or children, human interest, scenics, Iowa life and landscape, general. The first prize indirect color is $20, in the remaining 510. The sweepstakes and reserve sweep stakes awards will be $15 and $10. respectively, for black and white prints only. The Iowa State Fair dates, Aug. 17-26. are a week early and salon entries will close Aug. 1. Premium books and entry blanks may be" obtained by writing the Iowa State Fair Board. Des Moines.
