In asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, there is a constant struggle to breathe, Pollution makes it just that A few facts: In Los Angeles, 10,000 tons of exhaust gases and unburned gasoline vapor goes into the air each weekday from million autos burning 7 million gallons of gasoline. In Chicago, 50,000 smokestacks expel 570,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and 142,000 tons of soot each year. Many of the pollutants are poisons and there is a vast difference between a poison and those comparatively harmless things which cause allergies. Yet, while pollution imperils everyone, it is especially difficult for the allergy-sensitive.
