The New Hampton Tribune It published by John Fouling whose father was Democrat State Chairman In the 1930's.) This newspaper for many years In the past supported enthusiastically the Democrat Party, nationally and In Iowa. This was In the days when Iowa was basically a one-party (Republican) state. In recent years we have 'taken a neutral political position, but wo have felt an Increasing concern with political events nationally and state-wide. This Important election year we are I upper ting the Republican Party for sev- era I basic reasons. 1. 3. We believe In the two-party system. Our government has become a one-party system, with the Democrats completely dominating the national and state scene. When one party becomes this strong, abuses arise which should cause deep concern to every American,, Inflation Is running rampant and Is picking the pockets of those In our society who can least afford It and the Democrat Party shows no determination or Intention of check- Ing the wild Inflation, A government trying to s.pend Itself rich Is as silly a* a drunk trying to drink himself sober. The present Democrat administration has shown no determination to expose the scandals which continue to crop op-Billy Sol Kstos, Bobby Baker, TFX, the McKlosky government contract favoritism qnd favoritism to members of the President'* Club, We. ore appalled at the actions of the Secretary of Agrl- culture I. drive dawn farm prices and to blame farmers for causing Inflation. Administration efforts to win the war In Viet Nam seem wishy-washy. Why do wa refuse to destroy the dock facilities In Halphona, which are being u«ed to supply the Communist enemy by our former allies (mainly the British) who have received billions In foreign aid from us? If our boys must fight and die In Viet Nam, should our government net give them every possible support?
