Hof f a trip to Hanoi still on WASHINGTON (AP) — James Hoffa may still go to Hanoi to - seek release of American prisoners of war, h i s attorney says, but whatever administration support he had apparently has vanished. After two days of hemming and hawing, key members of the Nixon administration appear now to be joining Secretary of State William P. Rogers in attacking the plan and the way it was devised. Rogers had stood virtually alone among U.S. officials Thursday and most of Friday against the trip Hoffa said he wanted to make to North Vietnam. The former Teamsters union official recently was paroled from a prison sentence for jury tampering and fraud. Rogers Thursday had revoked Hof fa's passport validation to travel to Hanoi, ciiting technical violations of regulations in insisting that private American citizens should not interfere with the .TOW situation. Even through most of Friday the White House would not firmly deny claims by Hoffa's attorney, William L. Taub, that presidential adviser Henry A. Kissinger had approved the Hoffa trip as early as July 5. Whit c House Press Secretary Ronald L. Zicgler acknowledged Kissinger had met with Hoffa and Taub, but would go no further to rebut Taub than saying "I don't believe" the national security adviser "gave any encouragement." Finally, early Friday evening, Ally. Gen. Richard Kloindicnst, cited by Taub as approving Hoffa's travel plans, released a letter he wrote to Taub denying any negotiations on behalf of the ex-labor leader. "That statement is a gross misrepresentation," Kleindienst wrote in the Friday- doled letter. "I am appalled at the inaccuracies," the attorney general stated in another sentence. The Justice Department also said that Taub had suggested indirectly that if Hoffa succeeded in negotiating the release of some POWs "perhaps something could be done" to remove parole restrictions preventing Hoffa from having anything to do with Teamsters affairs. Department sokesmen said no such deal was made. Taub said in any event his client "very likely will go" to Hanoi. "We are awaiting word from North Vietnamese trade union members in Paris" on clarifying "certain matters " ANNOUNCEMENTS Card of Thanks 2 — 9 THE FAMILY of Andrew 13.
