UP Top football and track prospect Mike McClellan has left Baylor and is expected to enroll at Oklahoma amid charges that he was recruited. The big freshman halfback fron Stamford, who was expected to be a varsity star at Baylor next fall, asked for and got his release from his athletic scholarship here yesterday. He wouldn't say what coUege he planned to go to but Coach Sam Boyd said he was convinced the youngster had been enticed to Oklahoma.

Boyd said he had been informed by Eddie Crowder, assistant coach at Oklahoma, that an Oklahoma student had told him McClellan was coming there. Boyd added that Crowder said Oklahoma would not take McClellan unless he had a release from Baylor showing he was leaving of his own free will and had not been recruited. The athletic council, in granting McClellan his release, would not say tnat he been recruited. In fact, the council, headed by Abner McCall, said it had reason to believe McClellan had been approached by Oklahoma and other schools. The other schools were not named.

Around the athletic dormitory at Oklahoma they were saying McClellan would enroll there some time this week. McClellan returned to his home Stamford but efforts to contact him there failed. And there were no coaches available at Oklahoma for comment on the situation last night. Head Coach Bud Wilkinson was in San Francisco and be reached. McClellan was an all-state football player and Texas high school sprint champion at Stamford.
