Dr. Longar Named as Translator Dr. Elizabeth I/mgar, Assistant professor of languages at U. I. U. has been accepted to assume a job as United States translator. She will be translating medical articles written in German for American doctors and for their publication here in the U. S. Dr. Longar received the letter of acceptance from Dr. Lnrsen of Bismarck, North Dakota. Dr. Larsen is President of the American Medical Association, with its publishing headquarters in Chicago. She starts this job as soon as the government sends the articles to her. On March 0 a workshop on 'Reclaiming Picture Frames" will be hrld at the Extension Office in Fayette. Miss Emelda Kunau, extension applied art specialist, al Iowa State university, will be p esent to conduct the all day workshop starting at 10:a. m. and planned to end about 3 p. m. The workshop will be planned with reclaiming and repairing old gilt frames, vefinishing old wood frames, mitering corners, use of inserts and mats and putting the pictures into the frames. Many of the materials which will be used in reclaiming the picture frames will be provided. Ladies attending are asked to bring the frame they want to work on, old rags and newspapers. They may also wish to bring the picture they plan to frame. This meeting is open to any Fayette county homemaker, rural and urban, that is interested in learning more about this fascinating topic. Anyone interested in further information about plans for the day is urged to contact the Extension office in Fayette. Coffee will be provided at noon to accompany sack lunches. The workshop is one of the lessons planned as part of the Extension Service Family Living program for Fayette county. The last lesson of the winter will be on April 2 on "Outdoor Cookery". She is very honored to have been accepted for this job. Dr. Longar read an article about "mediphones" in the Cedar Rapids Gazette. A "mediphone" is an electric brain, a library for doctors. If a doctor has a question about a disease or the cure of one, he can call Washington, D. C, and the mediphone will recite the answer to him. In this way, the mediphone will save the doctor a lot of time and research. Dr. Longar, perhaps by the brilliant discovery of the mediphone, is highly honored to be assigned to this post. Coming from an educated family, Dr. Longar's father and sister are both medical doctors, in Wiesbaden, Germany.
