Bbv BOB THOMAS AP MovJe.Trlovlslon Writer HOLLYWOOD I API— Ask this 17-year-old what her ambition is and sho says: "I suppose I want to be a star —if being a star means acceptance in the profession. But I would like to avoid sonic of the things that go with stardom, especially the lack of privacy." She is n special 17-year-old named Lix.a Minelli. Her mother is Judy Garland. Those who saw Liza's professional debut off - Broadway in "Best Foot Forward" got the hint that the star qiiality is there. The television audience will have a chance to reach a verdict when she appears on her mother's CBS show in December. If she comes across on television as well as she does in person, Liza might make it. She has the same elfin charm and ingenious manner of her ma. Liza's wish to avoid stardom's travails is understandable. Sho was growing up during some of Miss Garland's stormy years. For, Liza is meant a succession of homes and schools. The longest we stayed in one place was seven years at the home we had here in Holmby Hills," she said. "Mama and I drove by it the other day and we both broke out laughing. It's now a vacant lot." Liza attended seven schools in California, two in New York and in England, topping it off with a term at the Sorbonne in Paris. "The one in England was the best," she said. "It was almost like private tutoring. I have friends in their second year of college who are just studying things I learned there." Liza doesn't voice the lament of many stars' children for a "lost childhood." I wasn't conscious of being unhappy," she said. "The hard part was starting in at a new school. But after the first three days it got to be easy." Hardin Home Unit Hears Mrs. Becker HARDIN — Mrs. Gene Becker presented a lesson on "Accessories fo: 1 Your Costume," at a meeting of the Hardin Homemakers Extension Unit Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Chester Knight. Mrs. James Lorsbach, unit president, announced that the annual county meeting of the Association has been set for Saturday, Oct. 12. Two members from the Hardin unit will be named to the county board at that time, she said. Two changes in meeting places were announced. In October, the unit will meet at the home of Mrs. Ralph Taviner and in November the women will meet with Mrs. Loyal Linthicum, instead of at the homes previously scheduled. Mrs. Lorsbach appointed Mrs. Linthicum, Mrs. William Ruyle and Mrs. William Stone to a committee to select a slate of officers to be elected at the October meeting.
