THURIDAY, JAItUAftY 1,1MO Urges Cooperation Of Jersey Farmers PMA SurmsCor n Acreage from 194749 JER9EYV1LLE, J*n. 4.—(Special)—Corn growers In Jersey County were urged today to cooperate wflh PMA community commlHeemen whfl are now conducting « survey of farms throughout this county. John D. .Quirk chairman of the county. PMA committee, reported that commltteemen are already 1 busy In Jersey County gathering reports o! corn acreage during the past three years. Individual farm acreage allotments should b« announced by the Secretary of Agriculture. The allotments will be founded generally on the farm's corn acreage history for the past three years. "Any farmer who operates a farm which produced corn In any of the past three years, should contact the county PMA office in Jerseyville If he had not furnished a commltteeman the corn acreage allotment with the county PMA office. The last date for filing such • request Is Jan. 20." If allotments should be an- nouced for the 1950 corn crop, every farm In Jersey County will be affected by the program. According to Qnlrk, the survey It particularly Important because the new price support law directs that price supports on the 1950 corn crop be set up at 90 percent of parity to cooperators. Whenever corn auppliei at the beginning of the marketing year exceed normal by more than ,20 percent, corn marketing quotas, at well at acreage allotments must be proclaimed. Quotas may not be put Into effect, however, unless at least two-thirds of the growers voting in a referendum approve the aame.
