Bftfney l)evtne Gives to feiich Child Two Hundred Acres. fBancroft Register.] Matt Freilihgef has apalri been visited by Dame Fortune. Before leaving for California his father-in- law, Barney Devine, deeded to him 200 acres of land in sections 14 and 15, Seneca township. Matt was not alone In his good fortune either, as Mr. Devine deeded to his children 1600 acres of Kossuth's fine soil at the sametlme. The old gentleman has begun to take life easy and wished to have as little on his mind as possible so made the above generous disposal of some of his property. Mr. Devine and wife and sons George and Frank left on Monday for California to snend the winter. 0. W. Sarchett of the grocery firm of Patterson & Sarchett of Algona was in our city last Tuesday and contemplates engaging in the grocery business here with F. A. -Patterson. This Will give Bancroft another hustler and an energetic business man. Mr. Sarchett is well known all through the county and has the faculty of drawing people his way. George Martin who was a resfdent of Bancroft some eight years ago, is at Aztec, New Mexico. Since leaving here he has served several years in the •egular army, been in South America and in fact all over the U. S. He is now in the office of the sheriff of San Ju.an county. It was contemplated to circulate a petition in this county soon after ilection to secure if possible, the requisite number, of signatures to have icensed saloons under the provisions if the Martin law. Whether the proposed plan,,has fallen through or not do nqjl/ know. } Where the Heat Goes tip the chimney', You have to drive the stove all the time in order to get results. This is but one of the common stove troubles that have been overcome in Jewel Stoves and Ranges. They throw out all the heat generated. They make neither dirt or trouble and burn little fuel. As for looks— they are the _ handsomest stoves made. Sold by a5r HIMBIIMW.—~~~ all^dealers. Look for Trade Mark. ("KGEST STOVE amm THE-WORLDJ " QQQQQOQQOpOQOOOQaoaQQ( W. H. 1NGHAM, Pres. J. B. When it becomes necessary for competitors to speak unkindly of the instrument It is because "it hurts." When would-be pianists and music teachers tell you "what a poor piano it is" 'you can-credit it to ignorance, or what is still more probable, their inability to induce us to pay them commissions. There is a branch of the Kimball factories at Brunson's jewelcry store in Aigona, where the commission is paid to the purchaser. It will cost you nothing to examine our goods and may result to your benefit. Don't miss seeing W. W. Kimball Co., at Brunson : s jewelry store, Algona, Iowa. ' JOHN EWING, Manager. Too Much Paternalism. "And you would prefer to have me sit you less frequently?" he said. "Yes" she answered "father objects to my receiving so imuch company." And you wont wear my engagement ring." "No, father objects to my receiving presents from young men." 'And you decline to meet me occasionally at the front gate ?" "Yes father has purchased a bulldog, you know." His face took on a shadow of deep annoyance. "It is as I feared" he muttered. "The country is going all wrong through too much paternalism.— Washington Star. OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS. A. T>. OiiAitKE.
