(88 & 90) Hit And Run Charged In Mishap; $1,825 Damages A 20-year old Mason City man, Jack £. Goudreau, was fined $15 and costs in Mayor Bill Finn's court here Sunday following his apprehension after a bizarre hit- and-run mishap here at 10:25 p. m. Saturday. He was arrested at the Blue and White Cafe here at 9:20 a. m. Sunday and charged with striking an unattended vehicle. The mishap occurred on North Thorington street. Goudreau was headed south in bis auto, which approached several parked autos on the west side of the street. His car hit an auto owned by Homer Clark, resulting *n an estimated $275 damage and spinning it around, then struck an auto owned by Elmer Appenzellar, inflicting an estimated $450 damage to it. The Appenzellar .car in turn slammed into a vehicle owned by Harry Alt, with $200 damage resulting. The entire front end of the Goudreau vehicle was smashed, with damage estimated at $900. However, he managed to get to the intersection of Thorington and Call streets in it, but it stalled there and he left it parked, winding up at the local cafe where he was arrested. Following court action here, lie was held for the sheriff at Osage where other charges were pending against him. Hall Street ' Algona, Iowa (90) Beanie Cooper, popular football coach at Garrigan, will be master of ceremonies at the "Barbershop Extravaganza" to be held at 8 p.m. this Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Garrigan auditorium. The program is being presented by the Algona Corn Belt Chorus and will feature as guest, The River City Chorus, together with two well-known quartets, The Panics and the Astro-Naugh- ts, all of Mason City. They may also be purchased at Zenders Clothing, Wiltgen Jewelers and Honsbruch Drug. Werner Siems, 63, Rites In Evansville, Ind. A former Kossuth county man, Werner Siems, 63, of Evansville, Ind., died recently. Funeral services were held there. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Siems and was born two miles east ol Whittemore. He attended St. Paul's Luth- eran school and graduated from Concordia Teachers in 1923. He taught school at Evansville since that time but had been ill for the past several years. ' His wife, three daughters and a son survive as well as a brother, Erwin of Whittemore and three sisters: Mrs. Dora Haack, Fenton; LydiaWichtendahl, Whittemore; and Mrs. Noah Reisner, Lotts Creek. . The Whittemore brother and sister attended the last rites. Father Passes Hans T. Iverson, 78, Crystal Lake, father of Mrs. Jack Dutton, Jr. pf Algona, died Thursday afternoon at Hancock Memorial Hospital at Britt. He was a retired painter and. native of Denmark. Survivors include his wife, nine daughters, four sons, Mrs. Preston Funeral Friday At Swea City Services for Mrs. Joseph Preston, 76, of Swea City were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Swea City. Mrs. Preston died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday of last week in the Good Samaritan Rest Home in Estherville, where she had been a resident for 11 months. She was born Jan. 31, 1890, at Carlise, Iowa. She was married to the late Joseph Preston. They farmed in the Swea Algona, (la.) Upper DCS Moines Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1966 City area until his death in 1964. Survivors include two sons, James and Thomas, both of Swea City and seven daughters, Mrs. Maynard Jensen and Mrs. Roger Linda, both -of Swea City, Mrs. Alfred Nelson of Henry, El., Mrs. Keith Griffith of California, Mrs. Kenneth Anderson and Mrs. Marvin Soever, both of Esthsrville and Mrs. John Kelly of Armstrong. There are 31 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. One sister, Nina Traub of Estherville and a brother Dr. George Kenney of Mallard, Iowa, also survive.
