"And that," said Weatherman Cover, "is the absolute and unvarnished truth." A reporter roamed into his office on lbe sth floor of the Chamber of Commerce building, and confronted him with the lact that it Is the 23rd of June, that, according to precedent, ie should have staged the first or second (as you figure it) day of bummer, and thta, on the contrary, the sky la a dull gray, and every one is wearing his raincoat and her furs ones, at that. Cover whirled his chair about Buddenly.

and, without introduction, flung his opinion at the newspaper niau In the verse quoted above. The reporter did not know whether the verse was original with Cover, nor how, nersonally, he incant it, and did not choose to Inquire. "Now, I gave the people eight days of summer last week The reported did not interrupt talm to ask about the eight-day week, either. "Gave you eight hot dnys, regular fishing nnd-Bwimming days, antl every one howled so that 1 scrambled around and found an oltl rainy streak that I'd overlooked last winter, and polished It up a lilt until it was farly respectable, and sprung it. Now every one's howling again.

"I tell you, there is no Ing these Tatonians, and I'm disgusted." "But there will lie more summer, wont there?" the reporter asked, hastily. "Don't know. All I --an do is to remind yon of last summer. We had 12 days of It then. If we keep up the record, that gives us four days to go on.

We may keep up the record, tho," he ended, pessimistically. Ills forecast for tomorrow is SHOWERS.
