Monthly meetings for Clubs in Maynard MAYNARD — Women's meetings scheduled for the month of October include the following. The Scrabble club met on Monday afternoon, Oct. 9, with Mrs Ed Holmstrom, and will meet again on Monday, Oct. 23, with Mrs. Frank Cummings. The American Legion auxiliary held its regular meeting at the Community hall Tuesday evening, Oct. 10. Mrs. Chester Cumberland and Mrs. Hollis Windenburg will be in charge of the program for the Women's Society of ' Christian Service when it meets at the Emmanuel Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 11. Hostesses will be Mrs. James Leverington, Mrs. Charles Trotter, Mrs. Wilbur Bender, Mrs. Mae Langley, Mrs. Orin Adams, Mrs. John Meyers. The Martha Mission society will meet at St. Paul's Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, Oct 17. The Deborah Guild of the Helping Hand society will meet Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18, with Mrs. Ivan Gamier; the Rebekah guild with Mrs. Floyd Gilley the same afternoon, and the Ev« guild with Mrs. James Oltrogge on Monday evening, Oct. 23, The Eve guild will be in charge of flowers for the church during October. The Farm Bureau Homemakers of Harlan township have scheduled their October meeting to be with Mrs. Gene Brown ell on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 24, beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be a plant and slip exchange. On Friday afternoon, Oct. 20, the Ada Reading circle will meet in the home of Mrs. George Betz. The topic to be considered is "Our Fighting Men" with Mrs. Henry Kappmeyer and Mrs. J. Fred Ingels as leaders. Roll call will be answered by naming a Civil War soldier. Nominations made for Maynard Citizens ticket At the council meeting Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, the following were placed in nomination on the citizens ticket: Earl Foss, mayor; Dean Kalm, John McKoon, Walter Ehlers, Robert Bergman and Francis Smith, councilmen; Andrew Gantenbein, park commissioner for a six-year term. On Tuesday, Sept. 26, several members of the Ada Reading Circle attended the second Iowa district meeting of federated women's clubs at Decorah. They included Mrs. Henry Kappmeyer, Mrs. George Betz, Mrs. W. P. Truesdell, Mrs. Ed W. Meyer, Mrs. A. F. Bergman, Mrs. Faye Cummings, Mrs. Blanche Perry, Mrs. John Thiele and Mrs. Earl Foss. Members of the Helping Hand society who attended the meeting of the northeast presbyterial of the United Presbyterian church at West Union Wednesday, Sept. 27 included Mrs. Maynard Menefee, Mrs. Floyd Simpson, Mrs. Robert Ponsar, Mrs. Faye Cummings, Mrs. Andrew Gantenbein, Mrs. Floyd Gilley, Mrs. Carl Carlsen, Mrs. J.
