Later, Western began making its own lead shot, and shot shell wads. 1908...The Austin Cartridge Company (Cleveland, Ohio) and the National Cartridge Company (Belleville, 111;) were acquired by the Western organization. 1810...Revolutionary new machinery was designed for making shot shell primers at Western Cartridge Company. 19_14... Later, it became one of th« largest sources of supply of commercial copper-base alloys. 1916,., Western Cartridge Company opened its own plant for production of smokeless powder at Springfield, 111.
