Munford, president of the strikebound U.S. Steel Co.. apparently wounded himself with a knife while in a state of fatigue and nervous exhaustion, a hospital administrator reported today. Gerald A. Ouellette, administrator of the Cape Cod Hospital, to which Munford was brought in serious condition Wednesday, made the announcement. Munford. 59. was admitted with a then unexplained knife wound in his abdomen.
