Thursday, 4, 1936. THE DECATUR REVIEW PAGE SEVEN June Third Suspect In Coles Arson Plot Is Hunted Check Bills Against Ransom Money in Weyerhauser Case. By Staff Correspondent. 'CHARLESTON-Working on the theory that a third member of an alleged arson band operating in Coles county escaped arrest Monday night when authorities rounded up two suspects, Sheriff Roy Clark and State Fire Marshal Tom Abrams Thursday went to East St. Louis to check on a "Frank Johnson" who was accidentally named by Miss Marie Lance, 34, who is in custody.

County officials believe "Johnson," for whom Miss Lance said she was waiting when arrested Monday night, is James Ross of St. whose was on a passport found namss Lance's pocketbook. Faces U. S. Charge.

Meanwhile federal authorities prepared to remove Miss Lance, alias Marie Fuschea, to Danville to face a federal charge of carrying a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun in her automobile. Implications that the probe may and in something more serious than arson were seen with the announcement by Sheriff Roy Clark that bills totaling $465 found in the woman's pocketbook will be checked to learn If they are part of the Weyerhauser ransom money. Miss Lance, a brunet, told federal agents and county authorities she left Portland, last October after working as a housemaid for $12 a week. She was arrested late Monday night with Clint Smith, 53, ex-convict, after a fifth rural fire was discovered. Federal Agent Questions.

A federal agent from Danville questioned Miss Lance all day Wednesday and continued the grilling late Wednesday Although the passport and auto identification papers were made out to "Marie Lance," federal authorities said her name was Marie Fuschea. Tire Numbers Erased. Examination of the automobile in which Miss Lance was arrested revealed serial marks on a tire were burned off, leading to the belief the tire was stolen. Although registration papers were found showing Miss Lance purchased the machine in Detroit, a few weeks ago, Illinois license plates stolen from a machine in Gorham were found attached to the car. Smith was released from Menard penitentiary May 8 after serving a 12-year term for the bombing of the house of the late Charles C.

Moultrie Relief Load Reaches New Low Mark Reduction of 35 Per Cent Accom- plished in Last Month By Staff Correspondent SULLIVAN The lowest case load since the advent of the Illinois emergency relief commission was recorded in the May report of the Moultrie county relief office, released Thursday. There are 153 cases, compared with the May, 1st total of 203, or a reduction 35 per cent, Miss Mary E. Bowers, relief administrator, announced. The case peak load was reached in March 1934, it was said, at which time were 483 on the rolls. Although case load has hovered there, near 300 at all times, the last four months have witnessed a striking decrease.

Clients who found WPA employment accounted for part of this reduction, but by far the greater number have been absorbed by private employment. During May, 1936, the report listed 237 cases open and 84 closed. The closed ones resulted from the general closing of all cases effected during a two-day of cases May 15 and 16, Miss Bowers said. It was pointed out, also, that the number of employables on relief has been reduced 43 per cent during May. The relief office here received an allocation of $1,769 for the first half of June.

Administration costs per person during May totaled only seven cents, Miss Bowers asserted, and added that the cost will be less in June because of the reduced office personnel. A stenographer and case worker were June 1 in anticipation of the reduced case load. By Associated Press WASHINGTON-Senator James Hamilton Lewis of Illinois said today he was informed that a movement was underway to unite contending factions in Illinois Democratic ranks by selection of V.

Y. Dallman, editor of the Illinois State Register, Springfield, as national committeeman. The senator said party leaders appeared anxious to avoid a continuation of the feud between Gov. Henry Horner and the Chicago organization headed by National Committeeman Patrick A. Nash and Mayor Edward J.

Kelly. Delegates at Odds: It was suggested, he said, that to carry the feud to Philadelphia might result in delegates to the convention to agree on a national committeeman as the two factions have nearly equal delegate strength. In event the delegates were unable to agree, the selection would devolve on the party's state central committee as happened in Illinois Republican ranks four years ago when the state committee of that party selected Frank L. Smith. State Committee Torn.

The Democratic state committee. however, has been torn by the party's factional differences, and a large number of its downstate members withdrew and set up their own organization when the Chicago leaders recently forced the election of Bruce Campbell as chairman. To allow selection of a national committeeman by the state committee. Lewis said, might result in widening the breach between the factions beyond all hope of reconciliation. "Harmony" Gesture.

The senator said he was not advocating retirement of Nash as national committeeman, but had learned it was a possibility as a "harmony" gesture and that Dallman's name was most frequently mentioned as one on whom the two factions might agree. The only bar to selection of Dallman, Lewis said, was the possibility the treasury department might object to his continuation as collector of internal revenue while occupying a purely political post. A DAY Clean Out 15 Miles of Kidney Tubes Nature put over 15 miles of tiny tubes and filters in your kidneys to strain the waste matter out of the blood. Kidneys should pass 3 pints a day and so get rid of more than 3 pounds of waste matter. When the passing of water is scanty, with smarting and burning, the 15 miles of kidney tubes may need flushing out. This danger signal may be the beginning of nagging backache, leg pains, loss of pep and energy, getting up nights, swelling, puffiness under the eyes, headaches and dizziness. If kidneys don't empty 3 pints a day and so get rid of more than 3 pounds of waste matter, your body may take up some of these poisons causing serious trouble.

Don't wait! Ask your druggist for Doan's Pills, which have been used successfully by millions of people for over 40 years. They give happy relief and help the kidneys to flush out 3 pounds a day.
